I'm wondering why this has been overlooked for such a long time, and as to why CCP hasn't even done anything about it.
Can't we logout of an account without closing the eve client. Its annoying having to re-open the client after logging out, just to change to a diff account.
PLS CCP do something about this, EVE is the only MMO i know that has this annoying feature.

Why do you want to logo out, and then log right back in?
i always thought logging out meant i wasnt gunna play for a while...

this was ages ago (before my time @ eve)
but they disable it becouse the eve client became crap/courupt (fixed now?) the second time tou tryed to login

It was the 3rd time you logged in ... that you ended up with a currupt client.
it proabbly does not clean up proerly between sessions ...

They had this for a while, but the eve client doesnt really handle it too well. Crashing systems, corrupting caches, and a host of other errors. Its just easier to hit "ctrl-q" then double click the eve icon.

And aside from the technical problems, do we really need a way to encourage logoffski?

c'mon if it where that intuitive to just logoff, and re-doubleclick an icon, why isnt every other MMO doing it

The complaint is that it's a time waster (albeit a minor one).
The problem is that the client likely caches a lot of character-specific data. Changing that to accomidate logout/login for a different character would be a minor gain for the playerbase, but could ba a major headache from a code/design standpoint. I'm certain this is something that CCP's thought of, but determined wasn't worth the effort.

if the client does cache alot of character data, can't the cache be cleared unpon logout?
i dont know how eve works from a technican standpoint, but CCP cant have been the only MMO company to have stumbled upon whatever it is.
