Try it yourself.
I accidentally noticed that first when Scourge heavy missiles (so the "normal" kind, not FoF) fired from my mission Ferox still hit the Gurista Killer that jammed me (long after lock got broken), and I got a confirmation for that when I accidentally shot a long-distance wreck and tried to "prevent" it from being destroyed by breaking the target lock, but missiles still kept flying and seconds after I disengaged the lock, they destroyed the wreck.
I am fairly certain a while before Kali, that was not the case, and whenever you lost lock, missiles en-route got lost too. So, is this a "stealth" feature just in (or in in Revelations-1 and I haven't noticed), or is it a bug (so maybe I should bugreport it) ?
Don't get me wrong, as a missile user, I kind of welcome the change. _____ -sig-

Huh? No. Your lock can falter and things still die. Things won't die if you start warping. ---------------------------- Buying Sabres. EVEmail or convo me in game! |

If this is true, I guess this is good news for stealth bombers --------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Dagis on 06/12/2006 18:53:58 This has been like it for some time, and i wouldn't say it was a bug imo, the missiles already have a lock on target (much as drones do) so unless you warp off they should still hit regardless if you have a lock or not, providing missiles are actually in space before you lose lock..
EDIT : This was also in pre Kali, i had noticed multi times when killing jamming npc's.

It definitely predates Kali. We have had people get hit by in-flight missiles after returning inside of POS shields for quite a while now. ---

Better test this with some really slow missiles, i.e. T1 torps, since an actual missile hit as seen by the server, the message on the screen / in the log and the animation you see have very little to do with each other, so you may get the message much later than the actual hit was and also see the animation too late.

i tested this before i believe i found that if you cloak your cruse missiles only hit them if they are in your "natural lock range"
meaning without SB's or any melarky like that so being at 120km plus isnt guna help u be anymore anoying (\_/) (O.o) (> <) Resistance is Futile Find us here |

if guns got travel time like missles you would see the same thing when getting jammed. basicly any shot in play before loss of lockon will hit as long as the target remains with in hitting values for that shot.

Always worked that way. That's why Phoenixs with Citadel Torps in siege mode would be effective in some cases against enemy battleships. Targets would duck out of POS shields to take potshots at assault dreads then once they get targetted by them, they duck back in the pos shields to break lock. The Citadels on the other hand, keep travelinng their merry way, even INTO THE POS SHIELD, and nuke the crap out of whatever it was fired at. ____________________________
