Since yesterdays mini-patch are people realistically able to run low sec level 4 missions again? I don't really know how the probes work - all I want to know is how long it takes to scan someone up in DS pocket now.
I can't actually risk losing another mission ship to find out for myself.

Until this evening I had never so much as looked at a scan probe, let alone use one. I bought a Buzzard, a Covert Ops Cloaking Device II, and Recon Probe launcher and some of the 5au probes (sorry, already forgotten their name, snoop?).
I was in a busy system (over 230 in there) and I warped to a planet, launched a probe and let it analyse. I have the most basic of basic skills for scanning, and it took just over 80 seconds to return the results, I selected a Brutix from the list and warped to him.
10 Seconds later I was sat alongside a very surpised Brutix player in his mission space...
So, you can definately get to someone in 1 1/2 minutes with no real skill required...

There were a couple of changes that made some mission runners harder to probe out, but that's probably more than countered by the Recon Probe Launcher getting seeded in the game. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Takes less than 1 min to find deadspace pocket.
Done it. beware
Edit. I only did it just to see how fast they can be found. not a pirate nor any interest either way on pirate issues. This is just info. |

Takes me 50 seconds to finish a scan.
Currently we have 19 in local, 6 of them are pirates with scanprobes and its a small system, so right now missions have a failure rate of 100%. No, you wont get everyone to form up and protect the area, some people just do not want to PVP and we cant really get any real contact with the chinese farmers, however I doubt they would help anyway, my guess is that we can get 4-5 people to fight.
Now I am hoping someone is stupid enough to buy the Raven I put up for sale, because I am out of here, either I am going to 0.0, or back to empire.
Missions are pretty crappy these days anyway, lots of wrecks, little and very crappy loot and lots of risk.

It's almost safer in 0.0 now when you're in a big alliance. The scan probe buff is going to all but ruin mission running in EVE. Either pirates killing you in low sec or stealing items in high sec and then ransoming them back to you.

I was setting up a corp to protect mission runners as they done thier missions but I really dont know if its worth it?
First problem would be pay as pirates are traveling in groups of 3-5 gank teams so we would need same amount or Elite ships, with missions have such crappy loot and reward that I cant see anyone wanting to pay for 5 mercs.
Second is where to do it... From the sounds of it high sec is just as much in need except there thier cant even defend them selfs or they get concorded!
Its like being robbed but your not allowed to protect your self or you will be punnished by the law. NICE!
I dont know if any of you mission runners want to set up a safe spot in low sec where you have Mercs guarding the system its the only solution I can see, apart from all doing lvl 3's instead as they are fast to do and doesnt matter to much if you get robbed.
