I am having a problem with game freezes when coming out of warp at jump gates. I don't know if it is a problem with autopilot or with something that is getting loaded at the jump gate, but any time I have to jump more then a couple times I can almost guarentee I will freeze.
I can mine for hours, and warp back and forth between the station and roid belt with out crashing. The seems to run fine pretty much anyway else.
I have a AMD 2400+, 1 gig ram, ATI 9800 128mb, soundblaster 16 PCI running on win98se. I've updated all the drivers I can think of updating to the last versions to no avail.
Does anybody else have this problem? Would winXP fix it?

It freezes and then unfreezes, or just freezes? If it behaves like "massive lag," it's a problem a lot of people are having since the latest client patch. If it is that problem, you should also have it logging in and docking/undocking. Any session change.

If your System completely locks up, then try lowering AGP to 4x and disable fastwrites. I had smilar lockups on my System and changing those removed the freezes for me.

Yeah, it locks up and I have to reboot. I will try lowering the AGP speed and turning off fast write tonight. Thanks for the ideas.

Well I tried turning AGP down to 4x and turning off fast write, but it didn't seem to fix anything :(
Any other ideas?

I get this freez/unfreez at gates. Is there a fix for it yet its driving me insane

Complete lockup? that sound very odd have you tried waiting maybe a min to see if it will come back?

Just started playing again. Now Im getting a LOT of freezes approaching gates or just after I jump.
Rest of the game plays pretty well but something about gates is causing very frequent lockups/freezes. Sitting for a while does nothing, have to reboot computer.
Is anything known or being done about this? Hardly a incentive to "come back" ;)

The only time I freeze, and I mean freeze for 10 seconds, is when my bookmarks load up , so I keep that tab closed until I need them. So at jump, exiting or entering a station and opening them in space all freeze the game for me.
