Edited by: ccasdfse on 06/12/2006 21:58:21 Edited by: ccasdfse on 06/12/2006 21:56:35 I still cant even play the game since Revelations. All my friends from another game decided to play after I talked them into it and we all decided to make trial accounts. Well low and behold I was the only one out of them that kept getting errors while trying to login.
I've done EVERYTHING mentioned in the website, including submitting a bug report and a petition, but still no answers, or even GM responses for that matter.
As I have said now I think around 11 times on these forums thus far, I had a paying account before Rev. came out, I stopped playing because not enough of my friends were playing and as you all know this game is pretty awesome with a bunch of friends. As soon as they said they wanted to play it I was simply going to make a trial account with them first to make sure everyone liked it, THEN I would reactivate my old account. I guess that's a good thing eh?
Back to the issue: 1) type in username and pass 2) click connect 3) for a half second the status bar pops up i see it very quickly sometimes say Authenticating (then it disappears) and the program closes out. No errors or anything as per the most recent patch.
However, when Rev. first came out when I would try to connect it would crash and give me a windows error stating: CCP Blue Framwork has encountered a problem and must close. But like I said since the newest Rev. patch I don't get that error anymore, the login screen just closes out.

have you tried reinstalling the client? from scratch?
if that fails... I would format c: and reinstall windows. Sounds like you are long overdue.

reinstalling windows is not really a valid answer though, everything can be fixed if we can just figure out how, and besides, i have a lot of these same problems, ccasdfse here's what i do:
if you have catalyst control center, go into task manager and stop all instances of CLI.exe
make sure eve runs without sound
with task manager open, open eve client and look in the taskmanager for exefile.exe right click and go to set priority to high, and accept, then go to set process affinity and choose cpu 0 if you have either a dual core cpu or a cpu with HT enabled.
also make sure nothing else connects to the net while your playing eve, it appears that the slightest nudge of non eve packet data can kick you offline, allthough i dont understand why however that is what works for me. btw, antivirus and firewalls are a green to run.
and here are some links that can help:
if you have a radeon, i reccomend going here and downloading the ati control panel version of the drivers instead of catalyst control center the latest drivers that have the control panel are denoted with a "CP" in here:
http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=18
also another alternative to setting the process affinity and app priority can be found here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download870.html
just a few ideas from a guy who spent 7+ days in eve withdrawl :)

Ok well..no dice so far.
Here's what I did step by step:
#1: Edit prefs.ini to stop sound from being played. #2: Load Eve. #3: Go to task manager and set priority of exefile.exe to 'High'. #4: Type in account info and click connect. #5: Still having same problem where the program just exits itself out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
My error log in the last few lines actually shows no errors from what I can see but I'll post them here in case anybody can see something strange..
9462006.12.07 03:09:21:039Calling ServiceManager::ChainEvent::ProcessLoginProgress::connection 9472006.12.07 03:09:21:046Authenticating user 9482006.12.07 03:09:21:047LLV Initializing Crypto Context 9492006.12.07 03:09:21:047LLV Sending Encrypted Session Key 9502006.12.07 03:09:21:047LLV Generating Secure Client Handshake 9512006.12.07 03:09:21:048Open res:/aid.txt 9522006.12.07 03:09:21:048No aid.txt file present in res directory. 9532006.12.07 03:09:21:048LLV Writing Secure Client Handshake
--------------------------------------
And that's it, the program just closes completely after that last statement in the log. I'm starting to somehow get even MORE angry.

You did definetly try starting your client, then deleting your EVE/Cache/Browser/img folder, then connecting to the server...
Cause this fixed it for me... Siganture removed due to profanity - Serathu ([email protected]) |

Have you trtied deleting the Img folder located at C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache\Browser\Img with the Eve client running?
It fixes my crash at login problem, on my other computer.
You have to start Eve, then before you put your password in, go in and delete the Img folder.
Thats the only advice I have though... it does seem that some people do not know that Eve must be started and running before you delete the folder, because Eve just recreates the folder everytime on start up... and after it gets bugged it stays bugged for many people.

ccasdfse is my RL friend and I've been waiting over a week to play with him, so would a developer at least admit that all these problems people are having actually exist and that they are being worked on? Oh and by the way, only 6 days left on my trial account and I still can't upgrade to a paying account because I get an error at the credit card screen everytime. So CCP, how about fessing up to these problems before you lose a bunch of paying customers (or at least customers that are trying to pay.

Don't reformat. Install a clean copy of XP or 2000 in another folder first. That way at least if it doesn't work, you can just delete the new install.

Please don't smoke catfood before posting.....reformat and reinstall windows? long overdue?Well, since it seems to be a common occurance, I will simply say that if more than 1.2 people are experiencing the same exact thing, then you are most certainly not suffering from something isolated and internal, specific to you and you alone. Reinstall Windows and format the HD is the default answer for the truly uninspired, actually sounds more like self congratulatory usage of pseudo big words. This belies a registry error, and we all know that if some peoples are experiencing the very same problem (mine says "incompatible build", immediately after I reapply said Revelations patch)that someone, probably by accident, stroked one key too many when the values were being set. This is simply fixxed by one of the esteemed tech/programmers crawling through their code, finding the screwed up value, then posting the exact HKEY string from which to delete. This is, of course, done after you remove EVE. To the techys, hurry up and do this, it won't even take you your entire lunch break.

There is another thread somewhere in which someone changed their MTU size and was able to connect to the server after having the same problem as you. At least you get an error message =\ I get nothing, the program just closes..
Search for unit003, he posted the fix for your problem I believe.

Might I throw a few words onto this.
I too expereicne the client crashing right after authentication when it gets to the character selection screen.
I have scoped the problem down to malformed jpg images used on the news section screen. Somehow they are getting corrupted in transit from the Eve cluster to the computer. Albeit different causes, the symptoms are still the same. I verified using the logserver (thanks for including this tool CCP) where it says it can't load blah blah.jpg and then crashes. I have ommitted the lines as it is just too long, but needless to say it points to a solution.
First off, the problem could be caused by hd corruption, problems with the network or interference by applications such as av. I narrowed it down on my end to the network end where the cluster is sending malformed packets. This is likely due to the load on the servers or possibly a router somewhere that is acting flakey. It even could be due to a providers error if they are using link compression to optimize their data links.
So, for some MTU change smight help as a non standard MTU (other than 1500) would explain some of the cheap consumer gateway products from linksys or dlink. It doesn't work for me as I don't use these devices, however works for some others as the corruption is most likely happening at those devices.
Anyhow, my solution is to delete the img folder under browser in the cache directory after starting up the eve client. I don't get the news screen on the righthand side, but it will allow me to select myc har and enter the game. After the first client is connected, I have no troubles with the others. This is definitely wierd. Actually it might explain a QoS issue that CCP or their provider have employed to reduce the impact of DoS attacks or to optimize the client experience.
Anyhow, I hope that there is a more stable fix that comes out in the way of a check prior to having the client crash.
I am running win xp64 bit on top of the line hardware. Once up and going, I have no problems with ctd or any of the dual core issues mentioned. It actually runs smoother than it did before so kudos to CCP on that.
Hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried to isolate the symptoms here. Has anyone solved this one yet?
