I've been playing the game for only 2 days, and have just got my first frigate. I was mining outside of Korridi in the Astral Fields and doing quite well to avoid the NPC Pirates. All of a sudden I seen a red targeting cursor getting closer. Figuring it was an NPC, I tried to warp to safety. To my amazement my warp wouldn't work (My first experience with a Warp Inhibitor). A Pirate by the name of Requiescat, Member of "Provehito in Altum", had me in his sights. With my warp disabled, and eminent death starring me in the face, Requiescat offered to spare me my life. If in exchange I would be willing to make a post and tell everyone of his kindness. As well as the fact that his Corp is looking to recruit experienced Pilots (But willing to consider any Applications).

This is called "pod or post" and last I checked, it's classified as a form of harassment.

It might well be but if your new and have no money, and as long as it isnt anything harmful (as in this case it looks like it was just in the spirit of good fun and advertising) I personally dont see anything worthy of a petition. You've got no real monetary assets as a newbie anyway.
Would it then be petitionable if they said. Join my corp or I pod you!

Well, im not sure on the harassment part, but I'd consider it to be a much bigger achievement when it was done on someone who is longer in the game than 2 days...

Likely happend long before I started playing. DS do you happen to recall just why they did that? I mean it's not like being 'forced' to make some silly post (As long as it's all well within posting rules) costs you anything more than some dignity. Which.. ransoming does anyway in my oppinon. Hardly a death blow to anyone.

I'm waiting for the voice chat so we can have "pod or song" back again. People used to do it by demanding someone get on vent/ts and sing them a song.

Why not still do that? Hell I've got a Vent server that just bout never gets used by my corp. Maybe I should open it up to those desiring to issue a 'pod or sing' ransom.

I was talking to Requiescat. He was trying to recruit me. He and some other guy called Ghengis were starting up a new pirating corp. He was actually a nice guy to talk to.
I got a good chuckle when he said the corp has only existed for 5 days and they already have mercs sent to deal with them.
Maybe one day I'll put on the eye patch and Yarrr... But not yet.

Whilst it may be considered a legitimate ransom tactic to demand a victim post on the forums or face liquidation, threads of this nature do not contribute anything constructive to the forums other than to purposely embarass members of the community.
For this reason, threads with a "pod or post" content will be considered spam. We don't need more spam on the forums, so please don't contribute to it.
