Exhumers Skill Bonus: 5% reduction in Ice Harvester duration per level. Role Bonus: 100% bonus Ice Harvester yield but 25% penalty to ice harvester duration so if i trained up Exhumers V for the 25% harvester duration bonus, I'd be f'n pissed to see the penalty....

Yield is 1/x per second A mackinaw slows that down to 1.25x seconds, but doubles the yield. Yield is 2/1.25x per second which becomes 1.6/x per second Add exhumers V and you get back to x seconds Yield is 2/x per second. The penalty is there to avoid Exhumers V giving too much ice without making it worthless to train.

But it is nothing new to games with this sort of bonus system. Look at, say, a card game where a certain monster of "fire" gets 1x health and then add a buffer card for 25% health. But each "class" each has it's own buffer card, and the buffer card played happens to be "water" which gets a -25% reduction when played on fire base. In this spot it would show up quite the same. 1x base health, buffered +25% to 1.25, reduced by 25% to 1.00. It's pointless to tell people, but the dynamics of the game require it to be displayed accordingly, because the bonus in question isn't unique to the Mackinaw.

Well yes, technically you might have asked a question, since your sentence ended with a question mark. But it surely sounded like you already decided the whole bonuses were confusing, misleading and ultimately non-sense. Combining that with the fact that you simply ignored one part of the quoted bonuses (the +100% yield) and you get something that resembles the usual trolling / strawman debate pattern. And maybe don't try to get so hung up on "Oh, I asked a question". Technically "umad?" is question as well and from here it looked like you were quite offended by that. EDIT: And before you get even more confused about the bonuses being the way they are. You cannot get a 25% bonus to ice mining yield, because the normal yield is 1 block per cycle and there are no quarter blocks. So any improvement to yield must be a multiple of 100%. Since that is too much per level (at least for CCP) you receive a penalty to the time to even that out a little. That penalty is then decreased by training to still give you an improvement per level.
