I have been doing exploration as my main "profession" . I have really enjoyed it! Seeing as I am about to hit my 35 days old. I will be loosing my cerebral accelerator and will no longer fear going into lowsec.
My question. What is the minimum sized ship for lowsec exploration sites(combat sites,radar and magnometric)? Will I need a minimum of cruiser or Battlecruiser? The highest I ever saw in Highsec was a 4/10 combat site, which required my Hurricane.
Any recommendations would be awesome! |

Depends. In lowsec I think you can get 6 or 7/10s, which can be nasty even for BS. For safety purposes you'd probably want to use one of the better PVE t2 cruisers (Ishtar perhaps?)
mag/radar sites are way easier. I ran them confidently in a Wolf.

Thank you for the response! I'm about 5 days away from Minmatar Assault Frigates. I was unsure if Frigates were even useful when you start getting into lower sec status. Thank you again! |

You can run lowsec exploration sites in assault frigs. A dedicated probing ship helps, but a while ago I ran a good few radars in a jag fitted with a probe launcher. Bit gimped, but it was doable.

AFs or Cruisers (Vexor & Arbi esp.) are fine for lowsec Mags and Radars.
As for combat sigs, it varies a lot depending on which level and which faction. Lowsec DED plexes are 4/10 to 6/10, and the 5/10+ are either going to need (very generally speaking) a highly skilled BC or T3/HAC to complete in a reasonable amount of time, especially if you're running a site for the first time and aren't sure what to expect.
You'll also want to pay a lot more attention to the resident pirate factions EWAR in the lowsec sites, the Blood lowsec exploration sites for example have ridiculous amounts of neuting and webbing that will slaughter anything active and/or speed tanking. |
