Oh indeed; ultimately that's why we play the game. But have you considered that the anti-mission-runner whiners* might be motivated by what they percieve to be the negative impact of mission runners on their fun? Not that I agree with them but it's good to understand where the whining is coming from.
You're not one of the people I was criticising: you have clearly at least tried low sec and know why you like to play in highsec. And you're not demanding that anyone else be nerfed.
* If you think I might be one of these, go and look at my standings.

Surprisingly, it turns out that different people have different personalities and enjoy doing different things. There's even been anthropological research into people who play MMOs, e.g.: http://www.brandeis.edu/pubs/jove/HTML/v1/bartle.html
Originally by: Red Desire IF "fun" is for someone just to do missions, then heck I'm doing him a favor by griefing, I spice up his life abit.
No, you aren't.

Tough to fathom, but there is actually an MMOG called A Tale in the Desert that is nothing but building/crafting game-wise. Some people just find accumulating virtual wealth to be enjoyable.

For me is just another ebayer and ... .
Well, it is fun for me because I say it is. I did not say it was fun for you, nor does it have to be. Yes, I like amassing huge amounts of ISK and bathing in my millions on a regular basis. I dont really care if you like that or not. Some how I think that I have been playing a little longer than you, maybe, and I have spent time in 0.0, lowsec, and highsec. Right now I am in highsec because I dont have time to put towards 0.0 and lowsec is a pain for just a few minutes fun.
Can I go to 0.0 with little risk, sure, but I could not give back to my corp and alliance what they are giving me so I putter around in high sec building and selling stuff and doing a mission if I have time.
I find that fun, now if you want to try griefing me, contact me in game. I am sure I have a few friends that would love to help show you what a real combat pilot can do. I, freely admit to being a terrible combat pilot, but great at making ISK. My corp likes me for that, I am happy doing that, and just because you dont is no reason to grief others.

Many of you folks amaze me.
If EVERYONE was in to PVP and NO ONE was doing missions, or ratting, where do you people think the money would come from?
Missions and killing rats are the "money faucet" of the economy.
Stop and think before you post.

"Very, very true.
The problem is that, due to local, people know when enemies are approaching and can escape long before they are in danger. Therefore the only people who fall victim are those who die at a gatecamp or are inexperienced.
What needs to happen is that there needs to be more low security space, more profitable low security space, more low security chokepoints (to take the load off of systems like Amamake and spread out the gatecamps), and most importantly, a nerf to local. Perhaps put it on a 10 minute delay."
Ya but the converse to that is that if you don;t know enemies are coming, because things like webbing and scrambling never fail you can never escape. Some middle ground needs to be hit, because it is much more penalizing to be caught than it is to wander around and not catch anything. The last thing that needs to occur is more low sec chokepoints, then the game turns into lame gatecamping. One of the great things about low sec, is most of the low sec systems actually have many gates giving players alot of options.
Also there is a catch 22 to all this buisness of making low sec mroe profitable...if it does become big money it will soon become monopolized by big corps or alliances, and then the entire purpose is defeated they will lock down systems turning it just like thier 0.0 carebearland. The people who need low sec to be more lucrative are the small corp solo type players so they can justify thier ocasional loss to a pirate, but if the m,oney is real good they will be squeezed out by big organized groups and so will pirates...

For non-industrialist PvE'ers: - low sec should generate a lot more isk than empire - 0.0 should generate a lot more isk than low sec.
That being said, I think a lot of carebears are forgetting that most of the good PvP'ers have enough money to PvP all the time because they are actually BETTER carebears than "the carebears".

I think the fact that PvPers have to PvE to support their playing style isn't really that good in the long run. I would much rather see things that produce profit over time with very little acctual work involved, but make up for that by being points of strategic interest that are continually fought over...

Interesting points of view. I'm at just about 5mil SP and I have found a nice balance b/t both 0.0 and Empire. I joined a corp to meet people and discover the game. I have since gone back to Empire to apply what I learned. IMHO, getting 'blowed up' is going to happen. (Just keep track of who did it for REVENGE.) It's happened to me several times, but I don't take it a personal as some people. I've actually convo'd with a few "pirates" to see why they do what they do. It seems to me that the it's not so different than RL.
If I don't walk down dark alleys alone at night, why go into 0.0 thinking everything's going to be okay?
Right now I'm in low-sec Empire making ISK. I'll be back in 0.0 when I'm ready to 'throw-down'.
Or with a posse.
