Edited by: Antithesis on 20/11/2003 14:27:22 I've read on a couple of threads that bookmarks to the gate are supposedly going away. However, I cannot find any official posts or devchat, devblog etc to support this. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of any official developer posts or interviews etc. on this? Thanks in advance.

How can you remove bookmarks to a gate? Whats to stop people from bookmarking the coordinate right next to the gate?

Perhaps I should make myself more clear. The idea was that CCP is going to remove the ability to warp right up to the gate and jump. This in effect makes bookmarks to a jump gate useless for evading gate campers etc.

Yeah, the general idea was that, even if you *have* an instajump bookmark, there would be an anti-warp bubble around gates and stations ~20-40km radius.
Anyone warping towards the gate will be stopped at the edge of the bubble, regardless of their destination.
The same would be true of the systems where you jumpin-warp-instajump. .

Well this just sucks for Indy haulers. With our overwhelming speed (sarcastic), I might as well go make a sandwich every time I engage my boosters. Anyone with a MWD will be just dandy though. So lets think.. normally you warp in 24 to 35 km from a gate, multiply that times 10 jumps to haul stuff from deep 0.0 space. and my top speed is just under 230 with the 4 boosters activated (damn expanders). How much of my time does CCP expect to waste.

My indy does 1km/s (non-mwd). Maybe you're going for maximum capacity, when you should be thinking more about speed... .

Are you kidding Drunk, Hell yes I am. True.. I can get my Badger up to ubar speeds with speed mods in those low slots too, but with how much capacity to haul minerals so far to the nearest station? Any straight thinking hauler goes for the maximum hauling capacity, and at least for now, I don't have to wait to cruise up the each and every gate. It took hours of flying to get warp in marks to each and every gate to and from my target area. I dont want to see it changed for my own selfish reasons, but if it does.. I will adjust. Hauling is already boring enough as it is.
I understand the reasons though. Any chance to kill my badger is reduced pretty low when I arrive right on top of the gate. I can't say that I spend any sleepless nights because of this though.

Its not a bug. One developer thought of it as creative. And its a subject under discussion and NOT something that is definitely being removed. If you can catch me you can have me. |

I know they suck, but like JIP's, pirates are not the only people to use them.
When they're either removed, or made irrelevant (warp-to-scanner) I will be a lot happier.
Personally, I only have about 2 non-entity/midwarp BM's. One in Yulai, and one I got the other night, after tracking someone down to *their* Midspace BM, and bookmarking it.
But while it's in the game, I have no problem with other people using them, or using them myself, if I need to.
We make do with what we're given. .

If they dev's remove the ability to create accurate bookmarks, they can kiss goodbye their master plan to get more people out of empire space.
If they take away bookmark's, I will be forced to mine in empire space since I belong to a small but independant corp and do not welcome alliances.
As it is thus far, this idea is more the plug of lazy gate campers and other pirate scum. Please direct me to a quote made by a dev on this if you have it.
Thanks in advance.

It is a bug that is being abused. it will be fixed. you are meant to warp to the gate at a certain range. if it wasnt so they'd make you warp right to 5km from the gate. have a cookie carebear. kthxbye. -
