Edited by: Rusting on 09/12/2006 06:55:36 Trying to get some feedback on the new exploration option. ATM i have no probing skills i'm sick of agent missions and i dont wanna go to low sec with my +4 implants in. I know there's gonna be changes to it but at the moment is the Loot really worth giving it a shot or should i wait till they fix it up a bit.
Also could some one link me or send me or put a guide here to explain what skills i'm gonna need and what i'm gonna need to specifically do. Thanks.

Yes, its new and exciting. It's worth it for the people with the right attitude.
No, you probably won't get rich. That is unless you're making the probes that people buy to explore.
It's just another facet added to the game that should have been here along time ago. I hope they don't make it easier then it is.
If you don't want to spend hours and hours and millions and millions of isk probing systems and coming up with nothign, then don't train the skills needed for it. Just buddy up with somebody that does call in for backup when they find the Big Hidden plexes.
I found one, called in the alliance and had a tough fight in a 2 stage plex with over 40 BS in multiple waves (plus support ships) we got nothing but 30m in bounties between the 8 of us.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree, its currently not worth it, you sit around for hours running scan to find miserable spawns that you can get in a lvl 1 mission, or some roids that are hardly worth the time and effort to mine (you might as well mined veld counting the time it takes you to find such a hidden belt).
So to the OP, loot is not worth it, neither is risking you +4 implant set. Its more boring than lvl 1 mission imho.

I'm in agreement with the naysayers, waxing isk on the chance of finding game content is a tad harsh imho. It seems like a passtime for the rich and bored, scanning a system multiple times when it takes 4 minutes (With covert ops) is dull to say the least, finding nothing after an hour is more than disheartening.
If you do try it, I advise getting a good book to read, unless you're scanning in low sec in which case you may be popped before your scanners even give you results.
If I had ú1 for every intelligent comment posted in general discussion, I'd be hideously in debt |

Some of us need to do that. Those running after the other "maybe a dya will be worth it" new thing: invention. The datainterface are found only in complex.

If you are exploring empire i dont expect to find anything higher than lv1, exploration in empire is trying to find gold in your back yard, the most you might find is at most a gold ring if you are very luckey, no more.

I would like to clarify that my negative experience comes from 0.0. Most of the content in 0.0 I have found so far is similar to a lvl 1 mission.

I chuckled when I read this and I HAVE to comment. The answer is a RESOUNDING NO! Most likely it will be better after Wed with the new scanners. I have been scanning two 0.0 systems for roughly 10 out of the last 13 hours and have a spot narrowed down to where I'm scanning with a comb probe. I HOPE *crosses fingers* I find something before I go to bed tonight because I fear it may have moved along after dt.
I found two complexes so far (didnt take ten hours to do) and I would say they were so-so at best with absolutly lousy drops.
I'm hoping this is a big reward for the ungodly amount of scaning it seems to require. I'll post if it turns in to anything, but I fully expect ccp will remedy the time vs. reward factor here that is clearly a huge problem

I said I'd post if I found anything of note in the system I referenced in the above post. I spent about 6 hours yesterday scanning this system and about another 2 hours today. I finally honed in on my own, private asteroid belt. It had about 5 bs's (nothing special...typical, low-end, 0.0 rat) and a couple cruisers. The roids are plentiful though very small as I've seen mentioned many times. in my paticular area of 0.0 the best roids are only jaspet. In this particular belt there is ample hedbergits, hemorphite, kernite as well as golden omber, veld and scordite. No prize for 0.0, but great for my area of 0.0 and as someone who like to solo in 0.0 a lot this is exactly what I was looking for. So I can honestly say it was worth the 9 hours of scanning (makes me cringe just saying it) but I'm fairly certain it will take me much longer than that withe all three of my accounts to clear this belt. Tomorrow will probably cut these numbers down drastically which will be nice.
