All the EVE developers would need to do to fix this EXPLOIT would be to delay your ship from appearing in the new system until AFTER your client has finished loading space or grant invulnerability until your client has finished loading space.
So why hasn't this been done yet ? Hmmm... COuld it be that the game devs like playing as pirates and they don't want to let this EXPLOIT go cuz it would ruin the game for them ? Hmmm... In my mind there is no other reason to allow this obvious game flaw to exist - this the the #1 reason I refuse to play in low-sec systems.
The only other reason this game-flaw exists is to allow pirates to more easily kill players for the purpose of giving the player-economy a boost - the more players who lose ships the more ships players will buy and the more activity there will be on the player-economy.
Of course, you can buy insurance on your ships but then the insurance doesn't compensate for lost equipment, which in my mind is another game-flaw.
Until this issue is resolved I will be spending my time in boringly safe space... Chaos is where I feel safe to venture into 0.0 space - lol.

this has been discussed many times, and most available methods are open to networking exploits (packet freezing and such).
They are aware of the problem, and are working towards a solution. That's the best we can hope for atm.
And I very much doubt they did it intentionally to aid pirates and pk'ers. .

They probably didnt realize that it could be done. As they didnt see how many people would be in battleships so quick.

Used to do it in the beta in frigates, so BS's are not the issue. ______________________________________________

Encarta Dictionary Defines Exploit
exploit transitive verb (past exÀploitÀed, past participle exÀploitÀed, present participle exÀploitÀing, 3rd person present singular exÀploits) 1. take advantage of somebody: to take selfish or unfair advantage of a person or situation, usually for personal gain
2. use something for benefit: to use or develop something in order to gain a benefit

EXPLOIT :: The use of game mechanics for the purpose of winning or scoring in an unfair manner.
If anyone can tell me what is "fair" about someone being able to camp a jump-in-point and target someone jumping-in meanwhile that person's game client is busy loading the sector and then proceeding to open-fire and possibly destroy or at least seriously damage that person then "maybe" I might reconsider my position on this - doesn't mean I want to place myself in the position of the one who is being killed by the game mechanics however - lol
Also saying the game devs didn't think about this one is rediculous ! I'm a professional software developer with a lot of experience coding things and even I know if a ship appears in a sector without the pilot having control over it someone is gonna be able to take advantage of this situation. This EXPLOIT was engineered into the game and then ignored or forgotten by those who put it there. The fix is so completely trivial it hardly bears explanation because the game devs could have easily engineered a way for a ship to safely jump into a system to a place where nobody was sitting there waiting to take advantage. IMHO

DO you know why people camp JIP's? Its because its one of the only ways to fight an enemy that doesnt want to fight you. Basicaly its one of the best ways to get into a fight as any other time its just to easy for people to get away. And u cant give me the why dont u camp at gates crap that just doesnt work they warp in see you get their invincibility and simply warp away... and even if they do manage to get jammed it seems to be the norm these days that people have 1 to 2x MWDs and its simply impossable to catch anyone. I know JIP camping is a bad thing but if they do remove it there is going to be a hell of a lot less combat in the game and its going to be near impossable to draw people into combat with out them running. The people who like the game for PvP will get bored very fast and leave. I think PvP at the moment is very uninspiring and needs fixing. We need more ways to be able to track people down and trap them. ----------------------- ╔╤╗╒╕╔╕║║/ ║│║╘╛║╘╝║\ ----------------------- |

There is also a flaw in your reasoning that there should be invisiblility time until you load up, because then it becomes very easy for hacks to be created allowing you to be invincible, if you allow the cleint to control when inviscibility ends, I bet you there is a tonne of hackers jsut waiting to jump all over this and then every second person will jump into the systema dns it ther, take a look at all the ships, names etc. or even taunt them by sitting their invincible.
As for jump in camping, for one just don't be stupid, I can't say the devs exact reasoning for it, but can you not trust that they do have reasons. But how about you go quit eve instead of *****ing about how this game should be, because it sounds like if it were up to you, it would be impossible to fight unless two players signed consent forms. You don't want to be killed, stick to those 1.0 and 0.9 systems, and then don't complin when you venture out and get a bluddied nose.
--- Sig --- We've all dealt with it. In-game customer support. You would think that by now game companies might start to clue into the fact that a player whose run into a problem is already in a bad mood. So why design a support system around just ****ing them off all the more?

Eltigre stfu about this jip camping. Does every fool have to start a new freaking post about jip camping? If u dont like it wait until the next freaking patch. BTW takes like 3-4sec to se if a system is being camped F10 and look at the number of destroyed ships last 24h.

once again carebears got there wish. tell me ccp were does it leave in this game for pvp. u cant fight around stations, gates, and now jumpins. this game is becomesing so boring it isnt funny.
people say pvp is everywhere, thats a jokisnt nowhere for couple reason, ill say the main reasons.
people affraid to fight and the bullsh*t about emprie space.
not being able to enter cause u cant kill anyone there and if u do ur sec stauts goes from say +5 to -5 like that and then work for it to go back up for 3 months, once again bullsh*t.
i think ccp forgot that this is a pvp game, and thats the main thing of the game when released or atleast was.
ccp a hint if i may.
let there be pvp in empire from 0.5 to 0.0 systems. its the best thing for the game. and if people start quiting because they keep dying well then go play SWG if u affraud of losing things. cause pvp stands for Player VS Player and not HAPPY CAREBEAR MINING.

Edited by: Inasnum on 22/11/2003 13:07:28 Edited by: Inasnum on 22/11/2003 13:06:29 I'm with the original poster. Either CCP fixes it or i'm leaving. Jump campers are simply lame in my eyes especially when they kill ya. A pod is quite enough, just take the loot and leave. You want pvp? then have an organised one, get the numbers on either side similar and have a blast. Sitting at jump points and blowing empty haulers or noob ships is not pvp its a waste of everyones time.

Uhh no PvP isnt the mainthing about this game. it is one aspect of the game. IMO Camping Jump gate entrances inst PvP. it is easy kills. I have no problem with people invading belts or staying at Jumpgates. that is fair game. Why make the game easy for pirates/P'killers. You choose to play that way. now you must have the hardship of continuing to play that way.
IF you are so big and strong why be little girls and camp jump gate entrances?

'Hey Devs, evil pirates are camping gates in xyz .4, .3., .2, .1, .0 Empire space! That's so unfair! What am I supposed to do! That's an exploit! Change it!'
...game is altered, sentries and billboards at any sec status empire space. Pirating goes from simple yet lucrative gate tolling to the JIP phenom...that really only goes on in a handful of systems or during some of the more notorious conflicts we've seen in game.
Quote: The only other reason this game-flaw exists is to allow pirates to more easily kill players for the purpose of giving the player-economy a boost - the more players who lose ships the more ships players will buy and the more activity there will be on the player-economy.
Peeps loose ships and have to buy another one. Peeps loose ships and use insurance to buy another one. Eve monopoly money changes hands and the 'Eve economy' drives on
versus
Peeps hardly ever (if ever) loose ships and ...? to the 'Eve economy'.
I'm sorry . Feel free to rant on tho

I Agree, people need to take more risks and Lose ships... However we are growing (corp) so fast that we have none 2 spare, but as soon as we get stable & some cash spre, we plan to go out & assist the EVE Economy in many ways
Before of course the enivitable happens & I "assist" the economy myself & fly home (hopefully) in my pod ___________________________________________________________ Kitten Stamper (KING) The Kinights of Ni
