After char selection it takes 30 to 60+ secs before I see the game screen. I never had this problem before.
What would be causing this? And don't tell me it's lag.

a buddy of mine suggested deleting all the game, chat, and error log files in various places in the EVE directory. He said it improved the game load time for him (though I didn't notice much difference on my machine).
We both found thousands of game and error log files in various directories under the EVE directory. Careful not to delete anything that EVE actually requires to run!

I have only a few error files after reinstalling Eve. One is about 3 MB in size and in it is the same error message repeating over and over.
I can't see how any log files would have this affect.
I've heard that other players are having the same problem including someone from Polaris I talked to in game.

I used to log in very very fast and then I went and did some agent missions, filling about 20 different stations with junk. Ever since, I have the same problem you do.
I think the client pre-loads your assets list when you log on. And if it's long (i.e. many stations), it'll take a while.

I have the same amount of assets I had when I didn't have this problem.
Supposedly from what I've heard it has something to do with the last patch.
I hope the next patch fixes this and other problems I've been having.

Are you seeing huge wait times for docking, undocking, jumping, and changing ships in system? If so, you've got that session change bug.

Yep those are the problems I'm having and I thought it was lag.
It's taken me 2 to 3 times as long to travel now and it cost me 800 bistot this morning :((

I have this problem. It occurs when I install the 1246 or 1253 patch. I have reinstalled to 1238 and the slow log on / docking / changing ship disappears.
