I believe I'm not the only one to think the curent system of a 60km radius open arena is a bad idea, for several reasons :
- Pilots are busy enough during the matches to have to watch out for a virtual limit and keep an eye at all times on their distance from LeMonde.
- when fighting close to the limit, lag is enough to get a ship to cross it and get /heal0ed, commands not responding for 5sec when MWDing in a straight line and it's over.
- Another lag induced issue : clients being out of synch from the server and often showing big differences between the distances displayed in the UI of each client.
My suggestion is making the fights happen in closed arena, similar to the POS shields or EM fields shown in certain missions. It doesn't even have to be visible, as long as it kicks the ships back inward when they reach the limit. Also such arena could be given the same effect as warp disrupting bubbles, keeping the ships from warping out on CTDs and accidental activations of the warp drive. Nice of LeMonde to use a warp scrambler on each of the fighting ships but it probably doesn't help with the lag.
My two cents.

There is no coding for this presently afaik.
Best they could do would be to either surround the entire arena with POSs (something that isnt even possible I think because you can only online 1 at each moon) or build an enclosed structure that actually did collision detection.

There's one obvious drawback:
We all knows that such bubbles helps to further increase lag. And with lag already being a huge problem...

The current solution has another drawback: Some participants tried to counter being heavily dampened by using FOF missiles, but with a referee sitting in the middle of both teams warp scrambling all, you can guess what the FOFs did...
...it's just a good thing this isn't soccer, or the referee would have zapped them off field for that. --

He DID heal0 someone for flying a bantam though Smagd.
Though, the fact that he did that makes me forgive LeMonde for the confusion relating to group B. :D
