Hi, I just started playing eve after a 6month break. I was wondering if anyone has a good ferox setup for tanking 1-1.2m and 2-500k sansha's. I was thinking
5-heavy missile launchers 2-250mm compressed coil guns 3-?? other mids 2-active shield hardeners (same type as sansha damage) 4-pdus
I have no clue what I should have for the 3 other mids and could use some suggestions. I'm kinda looking for tier 1 gear (cheap and not much skill points as I have only 1mill points) and would like to eventually upgrade to tier 2 gear and named gear as time/isk permits.

Large Shield Extenders might be a good bet.

Edited by: Arowe Telak on 10/12/2006 17:27:49 Yes slap on as many large shield extenders as will fit. The Ferox has passive shield tanking written all over it. I would advise trying to switch out a pdu or two for bcs's to increase dps.
Sigs are overrated. |

Here we go...
High: 5x Heavy Missile Launchers T2
Medium: 1x EM Hardner T2 - 1x Thermal Hardner T2 - 3x Large Shield Extenders T2
Low: 3x Shield Power Relays - 1x Damage Ctrl
This is a very nice passive setup.

This gives you the best shield but I disagree strongly with leaving off at least 1 BCU, they make a considerable difference to your DPS.

Since you have low skills, I'm going to assum your gun skils are on the low side. In that case swap the 250's for 200's. The track the frigates much better and as such, you wont see a dps loss. The are also easier on your grid then 250s.
Go for 2 LSE's and at least 1 BCU in your low. best low for you is 2x BCU, 1x PDU, 1x SPR but you probably dont have the skills to get away w/ 1 PDU only.

yeah right now i can only fit 150mm compressed coils, (need to train that up)
please keep in mind that I don't have the skill points availiable to equip t2 equip
I have a question about the onel's setup. Hardeners use cap to increase shield resist dramatically 50+, shouldn't I be using shield resist amplifiers instead 25+(they are passive)? I noticed that you also suggested shield power relays. Wouldn't that be a kick in the arse to our cap regen for active hardeners unless of course you meant passive hardeners. Once again thanks for all the help guys.

It's possible, depending on your cap skills, to balance the active hardeners (needed against sansha's, they fire your two lowest resists) with the SPRs.
Just mix and match until you find a sustainable setup.
If you're on IE, pretend this is transparent while you get a better browser. |

I ran a ferox for a while in the same config you have starting at about 1.2 mill SP. You can run 1 SPR and 1 Inv and 2 harderners against its cap all day without worry (and I had crap cap skills). When you runn a passive tank like a ferox and your using weapons that dont use cap, you have more then enough to spare on resists.
