There's surely going to be a next tournament. I hope even more teams participate if only just to kill BoB :P

Edited by: Coquillette on 11/12/2006 07:43:11 Edited by: Coquillette on 11/12/2006 07:42:17 Well... well... well... what have we got here ?
25 BoB members congratulating themselves... and that's about all.
I believe it pretty much reflects most of Eve pilots feelings about that : that victory was predictable, and therefore boring.
Like i said in a previous locked-up post, thank you BoB for giving us the most boring fights of all Tournament.
Explanation : - when there is only one ship left with 2% structure at the end of the fight, you have certainly witnessed a very good one, with all pilote doing their very best to offer us the best possible show. - when the winner's ships have barely lost 10% shield in the whole fight it's a spanking. Spanking can be fun, sure. Once... or twice. But 6 times in a row, it is clearly boring as hell.
I very much prefer the japanese way of thinking : a good fight is a tight fight.
Reminder : these Tournaments are shows (hence Eve-TV). We're looking for tight situations, ships saved at the very last seconds (this 50% structurre Curse surviving), frigates clenched to their very last hitpoints, outnumbered pilots beeing able to turn the odds, exotic PvP approaches. *Not* spankings.
I'd like to thank Oveur for his presence last night on Eve-TV. I *do* want a Stealth Bomber with nuking abilities (shall we call it mini-Doomsday ?). And MWDs for Capital Ships.

Yawn, BOB again....boring torni I could of told you the outcome before the damn thing started.
All the more reason not to bother with another one, its only ever BOB that comes out on top
Oh I wonder why that is....maybe its because they use insane amounts of ISK and whack in the best of the best and out do everyone else!
Boring boring boring boring....blah blah blah please dont bother with another torni, it aint worth it.

Yawn, for the 4th tournament, why don't you just give BoB a few Motherships for free.
This isn't anti-BoB. This is anti-one-alliance-winning-all-PVP-tournaments. As people above have said: teams fielding uber-rare ships; battles drawing down to who looses structure first; drama and scandal; and the like, have all been more entertaining than simply having the floor wiped with no losses.
Props to CCP for changing to a points structure in order to try and have more varied teams. But it was let down by the whole "release a major patch one week before a tournament, so test server is full of people trying out ship setups", and "let's use an unreliable streaming server"
It was a dead cert that BoB would win this, hence why IRON didn't bother wasting the 4bn or whatever it was as an entrance fee.

LOL! what you on about Fire is dead right ffs, first of it was always known that BOB would win (i said it like before it even started) and second, I can see amn well why IRON didnt even bother! What would of been the point?

I think we've been around long enough to both be entitled to our opinions. Even if they differ.
4bn buys a lot of ships though, when compared to sinking 4bn+ into a tournament that most people have pre-determined the winner of.

Sorry if it came across as harsh but I still stand by it.
While for the masses the main thing people will remember from this tournament will be BOB's 3rd win. It should really be the image of the last 8 teams left standing including several names that at the start of the tournament you would never have put money on to advance so far.
Cream of the crop of course being Nebula Rasa, fighting in faction cruisers, just two partial low grade implant sets, with 2 of the fighters with just 7.4million skill points and as far as I know are not well known for pvp, still making it to the semi final. They are the perfect example as to why you don't necessarily need 20billion isk to invest into your team.
Why do Bob win? Maybe they just really are the best, but they don't have any advantage that isn't available to everyone else (besides a few Corvus' for the next tournament , but then thats no different to IAC having a certain Imperial apoc).

QFT, that list of 8 (as well as, unbeleivably, including us,) was a great thing to see, as it meant it sunk in what a giant-killing 2 weekends we had seen! The biggest giant may have eventually won out, but it was still great to watch. It can be argued that BoB's bhaalgorn was nigh-on as hard to get hold of as an impgeddon or impoc (since the drops were messed up and BoB space is the only place to get hold of them), but then, there are lots of other bhaals out there and if people wanted them that hard they can get them.

Other than winning the first two tournaments, your policy of inviting only the best PvP'ers, the raft of T2 BPO's you own, and the billions upon billions of ISK you have to back your pilots? Nothing
And as Loxy said, a few unexpected teams in the semi-finals. I watched a few of IAC's matches (when I could get a decent connection) and I enjoyed them. But at the end of the day you were likely to win this tournament (as you did do), if not then at least get to the final.

An absolutely contemptible confession of sloth and ineptitude. One can always try, regardless of the circumstances, but I guess you prefer to just sit there and moan about it.
SF began planning and preparing six hours before the registration deadline and spent a total of 60M on pirate implants, and we finished in the top eight. -------

Congratulations to BOB for a convincing win.
As to those who think they cannot be beaten, I dare say you are wrong. They are well 'ard, of course, but that should only make people more keen on beating them. Funnily enough I recall seeing the IRON organisers desperately petitioning Lemonde to let them enter at the 11th hour which suggests you are not being entirely truthful about the IRON reasons for not entering ...
But seriously. You are talking rot. At the end of the day it came down to experience and smarts under pressure. As my alliance mates have already pointed out SF entered with very little in the way of preparation or equipment and we did really well. In the end we lost to R0NIN because we picked the wrong tactic and remained too predictable. I think we could have easily won it if I'd had a little more imagination on the day.
I think anyone could have beaten BoB also by being a little bit off the wall and trying something crazy. If we'd made it to the final we were seriously thinking of junking the web/damp strat and fielding total gank:
Fleet Megathron Astarte Deimos Couple of Blaster Incursus
With mwd sensor booster/tracking comps, plates, cap injectors and uber damage mods.
Anything could have happened to be honest.
Lord only knows if it would have worked but it would be exciting.
Star Fraction is recruiting

Word of caution, this is a congrats thread not a thread for showing displeasure at the outcome or diminishing what all of the teams did in this tournament. Please keep your comments as such, constructive and respectful to the teams that showed up and played.
Thanks.
