The Basilica was on the planet Oris in the Amarr system.
I would like that thank Bishop Alizebeth Amalath for stepping up in this time of sorrow, despite her profound grief, to organize two capsuleer (non-government run) ceremonies in remembrance of the Empress for the Faithful and friends of the Empire. I for one... found it a source of solace and hope.
I understand well over 200 attended the in space one at the Mekhios graveyard and 50 were able to attend the later planetside service. |

Those of us who have been long standing capsuleers in Hyperion Guard will attempt to show up to pay our respects. We may not worship God, but we will come by and Honor the Empress and all that she has worked for and done in New Eden. I will personally bring a ship that is a Slasher chasis. I may be Minmatar, but I will respect those that deserve it.
Will the Slaves be freed for temporary celebration for the Empress' life? |

It is my understanding that a number of Holders released Slaves to the full status of Convert in honor of The Empress. The event, tragic as it was, provided a catalyst of faith for a multitude.

You are supporting a woman who allowed the horrible practice of slavery to continue, not to mention when the eldar fleet she defeated had rescued millions of slaves she had her forces execute them and mercilessly kill the slaves who had gotten on the eldar fleet. Your telling me she is of respectability? the reason why we caldari tolerate them is because the gallente federation will be in an advantageous position if they were not our "allies" |

While I personally oppose the institution of slavery, I have to say that as it has been explained to me by individuals from Lt. Kernher to Brother Honorius, the very idea of what you're talking about wouldn't suggest to me any cause for celebration for those who do believe in it.
Holders releasing slaves doesn't mean the slaves suddenly had an epiphany of faith. Either a)the Holders released unconverted slaves irresponsibly, or b)the Holders released slaves who should have already been acknowledged to have earned their freedom.
Either way, to do such a thing speaks to the corruption of the Holders in question, not their piety. |

I certainly have no reason to love the empire nor their empress. However, I would caution our tribal leaders that this is no time for celebration. The end of one nefarious head of state, though noteworthy, is only the end of one despotic chapter in an ongoing history of injustice and persecution. We Matari have witnessed such before and, as was so then, I fear little will change now in consequence.
However, the fact that these 'Drifters' dispatched the empress practically within view of her own naval yards, and new advanced flag ship should give us all pause. I myself have attempted to penetrate similar space (for diplomatic reasons I assure you) and found it nearly impossible.
A force capable of creating a breach of this magnitude, in such stoutly defended space should be regarded with great caution. Especially as we know nothing of their agenda. We do know their technology is fearsome, and if they can get to the empress surrounded by her own guard in sovereign space....well, one has to ask, where is safe??
Let the Amarr mourn their figure head. We of the tribes would better spend our time preparing our weapons, loading ammo and keeping a close eye on these drifters.
(An occasional glance toward the Empire would not be amiss either!) |
