Ofcourse it will be updated, if you've noticed the change to the eve site already, that shows they're working on the site now. The only question is when... which ofcourse nobody but CCP knows.

We've been waiting on Revelations to stabilize. What with the original patch, the patch a week later, and then a patch again this week, we would have had to regenerate it a few times - which is somewhat a waste of time (even though it would be really nice to have the updated data up there, I know, I know).
Anyway, it's on task for after this week's patch deployment.

So basically you realize that the problem exists but it is not currently being worked on although you are implying that you will work on it in the near future. That is even less committal then half a dozen of the posts going back four months ago talking about fixing my ! Avatar.

ty for the prompt response mr dev - and as u say 2 patches later i spose it would be silly to update site 3 times when one will do - cheers

Did you even read or comprehend the stuff the dev posted before that? Changes are still being made to the items via patches so it would be a waste of time to update the item db at this point. They will get to the item db once they're satisfied that item info. won't be changed.

I would like to suggest that you fix up the item database as a xml downloadable file as well. It would make it much easier for software that relies on it to stay accurate at all times. Personally I would really like to see it, since im planning to write some eve related things later.
Its not hard to output it to xml either, and you guys at ccp would save the rest of us a lot of trouble.

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 11/12/2006 10:10:42 I have a MySQL database at my hosting service, so I use php admin as well to create tables and stuff in the database. I think it rocks. :)
Also been messing around with ASP .NET 2.0 lately, and I must say im very impressed with what Microsoft have done with it. Even though I totally think they are capitalistic bastards, they are very good at taking the development forward VERY quickly. I dont want to mess around with code to generate html tables for the zillion:th time, and I dont have to with .NET. And writing your own server side components is very easy now. :)
Im a fan boi. :)

updating this takes more than running one simple script? FFS! Have a dev run it until they get so annoyed that regenerating the site is part of the build/deploy scripts.

They dont provide XML output either. Are they afraid someone will make a better version? --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

Its perfectly logical.
no point in regenerating it if you have to do it again, again and again for the sake of waiting a few weeks.

Im going to bump this thread once more to argue for a xml representation of the database.
If you guys at ccp makes it available as xml, you will see a whole lot of Eve related tools popping up all over the place. It would increase the development community around Eve and allow people to easily build tools to simplify life for the players of the game (chribbas sites are excellent examples of what players can do for Eve).
One small step for the devs, one giant leap for the community. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

CCP simply make an auto updatable database that self refreshes every 2 weeks or stop making so many changes that would help to.
That said its a problem but a non core one compared with ingame stability

While you're at it, could you fix the POS turret batteries list? The batteries are hidden away where you can only find them by guessing the URL e.g. |

Nope. We updated it with the most current data last week already. You're the one who's a bit out of date. :P
As for XML... start with the exports released (last week). I'm sure you can figure out something. :D

Is the eve-online.com Item Database compatible with the IGB (is there a different URL to get to the IGB compatible version)?
