Edited by: Jura Basil on 11/12/2006 10:35:40 Well well, so last night i was hanging around a 0.5 system, salvaging scrap and life was pretty good, then i warped into a belt in my shiny Myrmidon and wham! About 35698 wrecks are floating around in space, in the middle sits a vexor with three heavy drones and thinks he badass, well no offense he can rat if he wants. I cannot resist the urge to salvage these wrecks so i ask the guy "Hey, mind if i salvage your wrecks? You can keep the loot if ya want" The Vexor does not feel like answering in local and i pay the 100k antispam fee to try and convo him, which he turns down, seems to be quite a lonesome fellow eh? Well then i thought, screw him i''ll just salvage the wrecks and don't mind him, after i salvage the first wreck he targets me and starts shooting. I keep my cool and send my 5 ogres after his vexor and fires up my railguns on him. AS expected his vexor deosent stand a chance against my Myrmidon and he flees after merely 10 seconds. The rest of the night goes in Local in the fashion of: Dita, u are pathetic theif, go die nub! etc etc. you all know the flaming. I try to explain the to the guy that i tried to contact him in anyway i can and he turned me down, and therefor he has to suit himself but suddenly the whole local (17 people) rallies under his cause and the rest of the night the go around screaming thief. While i'm not bothered by being called a thief, i'm an old ore stealer after all, this was unjustified in my meaning. Bottom line is i wanna hear your opinion on this matter, who was right really? Was i an arse for stealing his valued wrecks (whom he could not salvage)? And lastly, isn't name calling and threats and general flaming in chat prohibited?

The only mistake you did was letting his ship and pod get away form you.

Yes, IMHO not podding him was your only not forgivable mistake.

See this is why I NPC, etc... with a scrambler fitted, so if a target decides to try it on I can finish the job properly . _______________________

I believe what happened was that in order to salvage a wreck, you must first pull the loot out if there is any. I typically pull the loot and kindly drop a jet can next to the wreck. This will of course flag you, but allow you to salvage the wreck. If the owner grabs the loot first, but doesn't salvage. You will not be flagged when you salvage.
I had a Vexor in my area that told me I could have the loot and the salvage. Only to turn around and be engaged after I did this. Just a new attempt at easy kill mails.

Heh.. Yeah if he ain't doing anything with the wrecks (not even looting) then they are fair game IMO.. I gotta say props to the Vexor for at least fighting back.. I've taken to scanning down mission runners to salvage their kills, and most of the time I find Drakes and Ravens fleeing from my yellow-blinky skull-toting Osprey (wtf?!!).. (Which btw, isn't really worth it - belt rats seem to give better loot and salvage).. Basically, if somebody is gonna sit around popping rats and leaving the wrecks lying around, they shouldn't be surprised when the salvage-vultures come circling.. Fit a tractor and salvager, pop/loot/salvage all at the same time - especially with a Vexor..
