Will the shortage of lab slots in empire space (1. thru 0.1) be corrected now that more bpo are available with the advent of salvage bpo's, more players are online and the seeming fact that Capital ship BPO's are being researched in empire lab slots and not at POS?( I traveled around and found several 60+ day slots rented and even one slot at 80 days. I understand that there is a default of 1 level of research that can be done not matter what the time period.)

POS labs seem to work pretty good. You don't even have to put the BPO into the POS with a wee bit of training. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

60 day slots are not unusual, people dont move their bpo's and so if they want to research, and all slots are already in use for 30 days, they get queued => 60 days ...
I didnt think 80 days was possible, unless the capital parts bpo's need more than 30 days to research 1 level
alas, poor risk vs reward, I knew you well

I think the "player" market is doing quite good in catching up to the shortage - lots of research POS spawning around empire.
If you need a BPO researched, feel free to contact me in-game.

For corps, thats fine. However, some people may not want their t2 bpo to get put in the corp hanger to be used at research pos. Even public slots dont work unless the bpo is in corp hanger. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

One of the problems in the empire labs are the greivers who put job after job in then cancel. I have seen labs with over 1500 days in them and others with over 300 in both copy and material research. We need more lab slots and ccp needs to search out and find the greivers and release the slots.

LOL
more like the unresearched bpo owners are the "greivers". greiving over the lack of ME slots.

there are other options...
you can setup your own highsec lab pos (or even easier a low sec lab pos... getting fuel pas gate camps is fun)
or you can find others who have done this and pay them... like me (and others... there is quiet a few of us). A high sec lab pos is not easy, but it is doable.

If this is true, then this seems to me to be an exploit as the TOS states:
Quote: You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules. This includes, but is not limited to...
For the intent of research slots is to research, not to "jam" slots making game play near impossible.
But I also wonder if some persons "store" their BPOs in empire so that they are not available to become "spoils of war" in the never ending territorial battles fought in 0.0 space?

true Galk, back then u couldn't even do research unless u paid ungodly amounts of isk (atleast it seemed like ungodly amounts to me at the time) to 'buy' a labslot from someone and u had the risk of getting scammed while transferring.
be patient, queue up your bpo and go on vacation. Resized tag... hope this pleases the tag ninjas from ccp :p

True. Solution not easy but posible. Create alt, create alt corp. Fund alt with main. Have somebody with standings anchor tower. Use alt and his corp for t2 bpo research.
Also kind of expensive but if you have t2 bpo, should not be a problem for you (unless your t2 bpo is a crapy one). |

this really is not a problem, i find plenty of lab slots. just takes some logistics and time to setup. Its called a POS with a mobile lab. Just park one in low sec, train up so you can keep your BPO's in your corp hanger and watch as you get research done while others wait in massive queues.
