Its all about Supply and Demand. go take a bpo to any system,especially high sec and see how soon you can get some research done.
People would most likely be willing to spend more isk,last i checked it was pricey already, to do research and cut ahead of the line in a sense.
The problem with renting out those slots will be how much they trust you with their investment to actually do what you say as opposed to running off with it,flipping the bird and keeping the bpo.
people have suggested that you could give them a sum of isk as a security. if you lie and keep the bpo then they keep the isk and you get backhanded with a wardec for your treachery. Do the customer right and word of mouth will bring in the bussiness(of course the security deposit will have to be a staple).

I was thinking about ... buying the required BPO and then research it for the given contract (say a week/month block) and then hand it over at orginal BPO cost plus agreed research Fee.

The ME slot shortage in addition with the 0,75 time multiplier, would make public slots in high sec pos very interesting.
I have a POS in 0.5 and could build more of them. 10 Labs within a big Tower would bring 30 ME Slots.
As it seems u can make those Labs free for everyone or u can make some restrictions, like min standing or security standing. You have 4 choises:
- allow alliance member usage
- allow corp member usage
- allow by standing range
- allow by security range
u can also make it totally public. In addition with free install fee and cost per hour choise, u can make those slots available for ppl wich are not in ur ally or in ur corp. And they could install their BPs by theirselfes and just have to pay the given fees.
Sounds good, but i played around alot without any succes. Only my corp can use the slots even i allow them by standing or by security range.
Is this feature broken or did i miss something?

I believe the feature is broken, well it doesnt work for me either anyway.
The method decribed above is the one I have heard of alot of people using. However, the three big problems you have to overcome are a lack of trust, assembling the huge amounts needed to pay decent security bonds on expensive BPOs (times 30), and actually promoting yourself... cans and the official forums are about your only options.

I'm beginning to feel there is some milage in the "I'll buy the Basic BPO" and you buy it back researched ... it would sort out some "trust issues" ......
I know this wouldn't work with multi-billion BPO's but again they normally have their own faclilties ...... I was thinking about the little person who wants to get into production but can't find a lab slot ...

1) works, using REMOTE research from an station corp hanger IN SYSTEM
2) works with either bpo in lab or using remote research from an station corp hanger

maybe they will be fixed by christmas 2025, but judging by the 'fix' they put in for Gallente and Amarr towers silo bonus's(bug known for over a yr, that broke 2 days after the fix ), don't hold your breath
