The following is a short list I came up with on ways to reduce the Jita (over)population. My appoligies if there is another thread on this.
1: Remove Ice Belts 2: Remove Every Agent 3: Change Auto-pilot routing so that you have to choose to go there, not just travel through. 4: Remove Kisogo-Jita Gte 5: Place a docking tax 6: Create an escelating market tax. The move volume, the higher the sales tax and list rates.
It seems to me these would be easy and sensible changes.

Fix the node so that it knows that Jita is at 20% capacity and not think it's at 96% capacity.

You are missing the point. Jita contains nothing of value. Its importance is cultural. It is a crossroads with EIGHT gates, several of them on important Empire highways to the North, the Border Zone freighter pipe and Domain. Everyone goes to buy stuff there because everyone goes to sell stuff there, and they go to sell stuff there because they know it is a central location easily accessible and equidistant from anywhere in EVE.
And the reason is because it has always been this way. Not strictly speaking true, but the average EVE account lasts for 7 months, and a large chunk of the current player base was born with Jita firmly established as The EVE Market.
The real solution is to kill a gate to New Caldari or Niyabainen.

Edited by: Merchantigus on 11/12/2006 22:40:00 stop going to jita? you all flock to jita like bugs to a zapper to save having to make a few jumps to get the same thing in another system and then complain because of the problem you yourself are helping to cause. go somewhere else ffs?
i live in placid. i never have to leave placid to find what i'm looking for. if more people left jita and moved to other systems there wouldn't be a 5000 person que.
i hope the lags and ques there keep getting worse. eventually if it gets bad enough people will get sick of it and stop causing the problem...corse a few days later they would be right back there and bingo ques again but atleast i could go a few days without seeing one of these threads

It needs a really special staus and total rethink.
Something like "place an order in Jita" and it magically is transported to your home (clone?) hangar.
Maybe add a timer so it appears "number of jumps to Jita * 3 minutes" or so, to stop instant buy / sells.
Just moving things or re-routing highways will just move the problem elsewhere.
A trade hub will always appear. Some real lateral thinking needs to happen to stop people having to all go there.

Seems to have been fixed... Was in queue for 2 hours, just got disconnected and was able to login to Jita no problem.

1. The Ice belts left along time ago. 2. The good agents got move out along time ago.
*** see were I am going with this ****
3. There is in many cases no other realistic way around 4. Why? 5. Why? Are you just against player created trade hubs? 6. Why once again.
1 and 2 have not applied for quit some time. All that is really needed is to have a bypass location in deap space, no star even... just a set of gates that mirror Jita to let players bypass Jita.

Because the one thing i've learned is that if enough people have a bad idea and whine loud enough sometimes they will get what they want. this is always a bad thing.
"but atleast i could go a few days without seeing one of these threads"
also i make the mistake of reading the forums and every other post is just this vomit all over again.
see your cig? that's why :) i know it's a joke but it's also true :/
*edit*
nice titan kill btw XD

My responce:
1: 2: why have any there at all? I can a lot of them running missions on scan. They have no need to be there if there agents are gone. All that data that is going to run the deadsace complexes is a waste. 3: Ha, move the routes so that IT DOESN require you to go through. Jita connects to the Lonetrek, that is completly unecesssarey. 4: Because Kisogo also has a huge population that cross-mingles in Jita. Kisogo is by far the biggest starter system and thus gets a lot of uneccessary traffic. 5: I'm against getting lagged or stuck there. Why shouldn't there be more regional market instead of one place that everyone (or almost) has to go to shop. The simple fact is that technology is limiting the ammount of players a node can have, isn't it? What is going to happen if nothign changes and eve reaches 50K or even 100K concurrent users? I have nothing against player trading hubs in theory. I do have a problem with the Jita grid lock. If sellers and buyers had to pay more tax because of use (think of tollways) hopefully they would consier relocating to spread out. 6: see my #5 answer
Simply sticking our collective heads in the sand isn't going to solve anything. Furthermore, what is going to stop this situation for only getting worse over time?

Someone suggested allowing players to use Interbus and other NPC shipping corporations to ship their stuff around. Players could use their skills to remotely buy stuff in Jita, and then have it delivered to wherever they want. This would cost a little more, but it could be worth it. For a real-world analogy, you pay UPS to deliver stuff you buy online instead of picking it up yourself. Of course, Interbus ships would have to actually exist. They would be NPC drones that fly around on their routes. Kill a cargo ship, and you get the cargo. That said, doing that drops your Interbus faction (along with the faction of whose cargo you stole) pretty fast, and Interbus doesn't do work for those who attack it. Players could even get jobs escorting these ships. The possibilities are endless!

what about trying to construct some sort of computersystem underneath that can hold 1/4 of the player base in the same system without crashing, i know its insanly difficuly, but think of the war we could have!
