red flagging and how it works against miners

DizzixX Caldari Provisions	Posted - 2006.12.11 23:06:00 - [1] I was mining today because I didnt feel like grinding missions like usual. My can is nearly full when a guy warps in in a frig and floats to my can and promptly takes one peice of ore, I think meh he cant take much more anyways. Then he attacks me, and no concord. I survived but lost the can to him and some friends of his that warped in as I was leaving. I took my complaints to the corp channel. I play on and off and was confused as to why concord didnt show, I was informed that if you have a flag on someone (IE they steal from you) and they then attack you concord doesnt care. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE SENSE OF THIS! you mean to tell me that the POLICE care enough about them stealing that it is okay for you to destroy them yourselft (IE go vigilante on their ass) but if they steal from you and then attack you that for some reason is okay and its up to you do defend yourself using your freaking mining barge in a .9 system (to imply that you dont have any kinda of attack drones) Seriosly though that doesnt make any sense. And dont complain about me being a carebare because I will come out and say it first yeah I dont go into low sec allmost at all, I dont pvp and I mine on occasion, but I shouldnt be punished for that as far as I was concerned I took the precations I was in high sec. 2006.11.23 15:30:46 Combat Your Tachyon Modal Laser I perfectly strikes Republic Fleet Rupture, wrecking for 541.7 damage.

000Hunter000 Gallente The Lookers	Posted - 2006.12.11 23:11:00 - [3] did u attack him when he got flagged for stealing your ore? he should not have been able to engage u first. he steals and gets flagged, u have 2 choices, let it pass by or attack him, if u do nothing he should not be able to shoot u without concord wtfpwning his ass, if u did shoot him then he has the right to shoot back (and so do all his buddies in the gang/corp) Unless ccp sneakily changed this? please tell me that isn't the case? Slaaght Bana Minmatar	Posted - 2006.12.11 23:12:00 - [5] No it doesn't work like that. Are you sure he didn't switcheroo the whole can, and make it his? If he took one piece of ore, made a new jetcan, then dragged yours across into it, and you took it, game mechanics would flag you as well as him. If he just took your ore, you could shoot him, but he couldn't shoot you until after you shot at him first. I endorse this signature! -Suvetar

If he took one piece of ore, made a new jetcan, then dragged yours across into it, and you took it, game mechanics would flag you as well as him. Anything you'd put in them you'd lose, but if anyone tries to grab it, they get NOS'd, webbed, launched like an acceleration gate or it just 'splodes on them. I think the comedic potential of this is enough to get it added. Of course, this new can would need skills to be able to deploy, and its actions would only flag the can itself (not the owner) to the 'victim'.

There must have been something that happened which turned you red to him. Kill rights, you stealing from his can (stacking ore in his can will also flag you), or you shooting at him. Wow, you so should not be attacking anyone over hard-to-read posts. Your post makes even less sense. He has clearly stated that he did not open fire (covetor), he did not take from the new can (put ore only into his existing open window), and his drones did not commit the aggro either (they were mining drones). That ship should have been concordokkened if everything he says is true. I needed more isk, so I took a risk. I mined some ore then fled once more. I'll return to the core to escape the war!
