So I was cruising through Syndicate in my Brutix, up the pipe to MHC. I notice JVR JVR of 45th TIGERS in TXW-EI ratting in an Abaddon. I go for him, land too far off and his tachs roast my shields. We chat a bit in local and arrange a 1v1, understood (by me, at least) as current ship, current setup, no EW. I invite him to gang, warp to a safespot, tell him to warp to me.
It's taking a bit of time, which is fishy, but I roll with it figuring it'll be alright since it's my gang and my safespot. If he drops out I'll just book it. In the meantime he has apparently switched to an Arbitrator fitting a cloak and warps to me, launches drones to keep me busy (same dronebay as the Abaddon so I'm figuring maybe his Abaddon is cloaked and just go on fighting the drones) and bookmarks the safespot. I assume he then sent the bookmark to his corpmate Curufin Feanor, who warps in with a Megathron, blaster fitted, and proceeds to own me.
Out of curiosity, I ask "Couldn't keep it fair?" and his only response was "0.0 space.", so I shrug and roll off. Just a fair warning to anybody in the area considering challenging any of their members, they all probably can't be trusted.

*inserts 8 pages about ethics and pirating and some one saying they are a "real" pirate but on the missions forums talks about their care bear alt doing lvl4's (hypocrites lol)*
Also I will usually refuse to do a 1v1 since you can trust no one

You know it is possible for him to leave your gang and join his friends gang who can then warp to your location rite? Well it is your own fault man, accepting a 1vs1 especially in 0.0, is just asking to be marinated, roasted, cut to pieces and then eaten. 
Lesson of the day: Do not engage in 1vs1 fights, 9 out of 10 it is a trap, unless it is against one of your corpies or alliance m8s (i know it is obvious but not obvious enough to some people it seems)...

With the number of these threads that come up, can anyone tell me why I should accept a duel unless I either trust that person, they are in an NPC corp in high sec or I plan to dishonor the duel myself ?

To clarify for those who may think otherwise, this isn't a whine or me preaching about ethics or anything of the sort. People will do what they do, whether it be honor agreements, dishonor them, blob or not blob, etcetera. I'm not criticising anything or anybody with this post, just posting a warning to anyone who may be feeling as saucy as I was and decides to challenge them to a 1v1.
As to the response about the ability to leave gang, I understand that, but he never left the gang.

Yea true ..45th tigers are Lame lvl5 but funny to fight ..they dock each time, if there fleet isnt atleast twice the size of yours.. and still they dock 
Many nights they come between 4-8 people to gank silly me :) ..they sit for houres and try trap me ..Its very fun watching tho ..got a photo-gallery of those lovely camps 1 vs 6-8
Another funny thing: try go there and type "yarrRR" in local ..next thing they do, it to try Nap you ..they Nap everyone i tell ya ..Even alts for just passing by ..Its super fun !!
Anyway Big credit to U for taking 1vs1 tho they cheated
