I've been playing EVE Since early 2004 (oldschool ftw!) and I've noticed how EVE's proceeded in the art of 1v1's. Lets just say the new generation has ruined 1v1's.
I remember the old days where 1v1's where always hourable except for a few infamous pirates.
I've been trying to keep the 1v1's up and about but there is no point anymore, there are so many people in EVE jsut looking for a cheap kill. Fun isn't what it used to be, the new generation of EVE is just interested in getting that killmail. This hasen't only ruined 1v1's it's changed the game a whole lot.
I miss the old days...

Actually there's a difference between looking for a cheap kill , and trying to curb PvP expenses - even if not semantically

As an older player and sombody who enjoys fighting 1v1 I have to agree.
I fear the days of the solo PvPer are almost over

i can still get one v ones i just have to fly under-estimated ships and shoot npcs for the lone pirates to warp in.
Since the stab change it has really nerfed my ability to run away from blobs just means using cheap disposable ships.

I enjoy 1v1's but I don't go out of my way looking for them. Sanctioned and arranged 1v1s are iffy but I've found that if you can find an intelligent conversation with someone in local then chances are you'll have an honored 1v1 if you want it. Protect yourself by having them ganged and warping to your safe, and if they leave gang at any point for any reason or take too long to show up then call it off.
Strangely, I've found that there's a lot of 1v1's to be had in 0.0 that don't require prior arrangements. Lots of people just sort of wander around solo. Interceptor pilots seem most prone to this, and as an added bonus believe their ships to be indestructable, so when they see me in a jaguar or a thorax they automatically engage.
Of course flying around solo in 0.0 isn't all that wise, but there are solo pilots out there wookin pa nub.

Me thinks that if I see one more thread containing the keywords "dishonor" + "1v1" I am going to strap smartbombs all over my body and run into the thread like a suicide BS in Jita.

I recently had a decent 1v1 against Yslath an imperial order war target, I didn't realise at the time I was so lucky to still find an honourable pilot. In light of reading the forums I think i'll reconsider this sort of fight in future!

I know the feeling, had a guy who wanted to 1v1 me, so I engage his raven in my domi at MY SS, and then after his shields are going down he leaves gang. Me being smart I was able to warp out and then scanned the area again, just the raven, a few moments later i scan again, now the raven and an archon which he had said was actually an enemy to him earlier :) I will be making a post about this with the peoples names and fraps to prove it :)
