anyhow..
my plan involves a deimos and ishtar so i went gilante cruiser V, with 2 days left i took a close look at the curse.. i mean really.. that ship is insane.. to make matters worse i tend to spend all my time in my cov ops these days and think my recon ship will proably be my main ship for quite awhile as i tend to run with people who love firepower,
so i am having buyers remorse over the arazu.... anyone who can name some nice things it can do that the curse cant will make this much easier for me....
sigh.. i even thing the curse is one of the coolest looking ships in game

Arazu is a gang ship - its great if you have friends. However, the Curse can be a gang ship or a Shield Tanked launcher Machine for solo gankage.
I guess thats the biggist difference. The curse can be a drone sniper, a nos/ecm boat, a uber-cerb, or a very cool shuttle. Whats your playstyle? --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

The Arazu is a fine ship. There's just one thing you need to keep in mind: If you get locked, you die. Your aim when using this ship is to maintain enough range so that your targets can't lock you due to your damps, yet you still have them scrambled.
It's not a solo ship like the Curse/Pilgrim but it's an awesome gang support ship. Paired with a rapier it works brilliantly. The Arazu is strong vs slow speed, long range ships and weak vs fast, close range ships.
The Rapier is the opposite so they're an obvious match.
Just to repeat what I said before, if anything gets close enough so your damps are ineffective and you get locked, you're probably gonna die. It requires an entirely different flying style to the Amarr recons, and the steps you take before the fight are far more important than the fight itself. Engage when you have the advantage, not before. ----------- Join channel 'Turby' or die! (bring pie) Mission running carebears drop good loot. Probe one out today! I usualy fly with small gangs, and like to scan probe out and act as recon, i just want to be able to add to the fight.. the curse is driving me nuts as i am a drone nut,
i like the arazu's warp disrupt bonus, however i am concerned that the sensor damps are to easily mitigated

I am countign on being able to start the engagement at any range i like, and i will probably sacrifice some of my tank to add some speed mods as i generally like to be able to control range. proably a repper II internal ff or exp hardener and 1-2 overdrives in lows,
highs scan probe (love this toy) cloak, 2 rails mids 1 mwdII 3 damp 2 disrupt

The Arazu has pathetic cap, a mwd isn't a good idea.
I run: high - cloak, 3x rails, mid - ab, 2x damp, 2x disruptor, sensor booster low - 800 plate/med rep, mag stab x2, cap power relay
The mwd isn't really an issue for because if a ship is probably going to be faster than me, I don't engage. As far as preperation goes I aim to get myself to about 30k range before I even uncloak, as that's a nice compromise between my damps optimal, guns optimal and scram range. This also allows me time to get the hell out of there if the ship I thought would be no faster than afterburner speed suddenly turns out to be a nanofibered up microwarpdrive boat.
Damps are a win button providing you keep the target away from you, and you lock them before they can activate any ew on you. That's why I fit a sensor booster, because after the 6 sec recalibration time on the cloak every second counts for catching and neutralising your target. With my current ship and sensor damp skill I can get an un-sensorbosted battleship down to about 10k lock range with 2 damps and about 17k with 1 sensor booster. If I can stay at my golden range of 30k I'm safe.
It's a very fun ship to fly so keep at it

Edited by: Sir Bart on 12/12/2006 18:51:59 Well for one it can cloak. hehe.
If you want a fair comparison, you should look at Lachesis and Curse or Arazu and Pilgrim.
Arazu is a very good jammer. With 3 damps you reduce people to 10% of their lock range. That's enough that you can web a battleship and still not get in their lock range. Arazu is also great for catching bad guys since it's disruptor has such great range. For stopping a solo sniper, Arazu is the best ship you can use since you don't need to get as close while you're cloaked in order to tackle them.
Pilgrim / Curse are different than other recons in that they can withstand damage and have a much easier time breaking tanks.
I think the strongest recon's are the Minmatar ones though... 30 km web range is insane.

Curse is a better solo ship...Its also great for making cap intensive ships cry.
The arazu is mostly a gang ship, especially when they cant lock anything and cant warp __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. |

Before KALI ECM Curse was better than DAMP Azaru, with ECM effectivly limited to specialized ships DAMP Azaru will always be better than curse when it comes to EW. (I'm assuming ofc you are aware of the fact that tracking disruptors are monkey dodo!)
Shield tanked missile curse is more of a caldari ship than an Amarr one, so you gonna train for Amarr ship skills to get it and then have to train for caldari shield and missile skills on top of it, if you dont plan to use the rest of the Amarr and/or caldari ships I wouldnt advise you this.
Only thing I dont (personally) like about the Azaru is its DMG output, so I see it as a utility ship... oh and never choose your ships according to its looks!

well I was going to write this long story about me and my friend, but all I really need to say is, find a friend that will hunt with you in a Rapier, then you will see the true strength of the Arazu and damps

Agreed.
Set-up I use to hunt NPC'ers is 2 x 28k disruptors, 3 tech 2 damps. Have 3 friends in Curses / damage recons waiting on the other side of the gate and you have yourself the perfect deep enemy 0.0 infiltration NPC'er/miner hunting gang.

Really long range scramming is teh sex. I'm just starting to use my Arazu with my alt with Recon 5.
Sure you have to be with buddies, and setup properly as ppl have said....but there's something about laying down 2 pts @ 60kms and damping them down to nothing
On the flip side there's nothing wrong with having a Curse as well if you want a bit of variety in your PVP action. I'm training Amarr cruiser 5 on my alt so she can curse up as well.

I've kind of gone off the arazu a bit because of the price point of the cloak so I've been in lachesis's a bit recently. Had a lot of joy solo against smaller ships (BC's and down) but wouldn't take either against a BS without friends because the damage output is just pathetic.
I've been running a lachesis/dominix combo with a lot of success. Just lost them both because for some reason I'm called primary all the time :( I'm currently thinking of a new interesting combo to play with. Celestis/Rail Thorax could be a nice cheap and cheerful combo.
However, if you've got the cash, don't write off the arazu. 3 damps, 1 20km disrupter, 1 webber and afterburner and you should be good to go __
