Hey guys, we can all check the stats on the ECM drones, but since I have never tried them in combat or had then against me, I wanted to get some opinions from people who had used them with success.
Just how good are they? I am exploring a potential situation where they can be deployed against my Raven, so any good info will be of use!

I used them the other day, 4 heavys verses a scorp and they kept him jammed like 70% of the time, that plus 1 hypnos multi (mounted on my Hyperon) and he only got one volly off in 12 minutes. Im quite impressed with them :)

They never got the ECM nerf. Jam of -7.5 from a Thorax without using a slot? Hell yeah.

hm, so they're pretty effective then, huh.. well would you might know what' the best counter for them then, besides a Smart bomb, since I will need the DPS and cannot sacrifice a high slot. My drones will also be ineffective if i am jammed... so what's the alternative...

good sonofollo, I should have probably had to mention that I also have to keep this guys scrambled at all times :)... sorry for that important miss.
ECCM wouldn't do much good, even if i get jammed once.

Dude, we're talking about 1v1 fight of Battleship vs another Battleship, where I NEED to have him Scrambled for the win.
Ships Raven vs. Machariel. I am worried about used ECM drones against, and looking for way to counter that. If you have any fresh ideas, I'd like to hear them!

even the small ecm drones seem overpowered. I fly with a full set of these in my absolution...not like 5 light drones will add much
to the dps.

Well, 5 lights are good for scaring Interceptors off... Then again if an Inty jumps you, chances are you're about to get ganked by a gank squad anyway.

Hm.. so far I guess there is no way to counter these.. I guess i can use the new generaion trick.. just blob the guy to death :/
I would still want to perform the deed myself, but ECM drones seems too big of a wild card to effectively rely on having the guy scrambled for all eternity until he's dead... :(

They work very well, the only problem using them as a gal pilot is that I sacrifice ALOT of damage to use drones that dont deal any.

Hm, but say used with a ship that has a pretty good other way of dealing damage, they would be like an extra 1-2 ECM slots then huh.. :(...
do you know of a way to counter those? away from the following:
1. Smart bomb, simply need to break the tank on this ship and to counter his NOS, i.e. will need my 6 torps and 2 Vamps
2. My drones - wont work if jammed
3. ECCM - wont work to be sure for 100%, since I need him scrammed at all times. All he needs to do is jam me even once and get away.. :(
4. A friendly ship - he'll run away and not engage in the first place if he sees one around, so 1v1 shoud be the case, plus being jammed wouldn't help to hold him for long either...
so I would appreciate any good advice here...

I use 5 Light ECM drones on my vaga, haven't let me down yet. They locked down a Drake the other night in testing them out against the new BC's. Very nice to have, handy and most people don't really expect them to be all that powerful, a nasty surprise if your fighting a vaga for sure.

Yeah flip on an ECCM module and you'll have a prety good chance of regaining lock.
Alternativly you could do this if your drones are docked when you are attacked (as drones only auto attack if someone activates a hostile module on you, not if they are running one when the drones are deployed).
Deploy your drones, they will not auto attack becasue of the reason above but you can set off an ECM burst causing the enemy drones to lose lock. Now this will not directly do alot of good as drones will just auto relock and start attacking again. Indirectly however this helps out alot because now your drones that are in space will recognize the enemy drones as being aggressive (because they had to relock and attack but this time with your drones already in space and ready to defend you)and attack them.
ec drones are weak and your drones will make short work of them.

Im very happy with my Heavy ECM drones. I have tested them by attacking a command ship, amarr. I engaged perhaps 6 times and hes command ship was jammed within 2-5 seconds every time. I sure was surpriced about the result. I tried to attack a BS with them but i had "different" results. Sometimes it could take up to 20 seconds before i had a lock but then they keep the lock for 30-35 seconds.
Some facts you should be aware of:
-Test was done with a dominix and they have drone bonus.
-I have 4M SP in drone.
-Thoose were 5xHeavy ECM drones.
-When you recall them to dronebay, the instantly break the ecm lock.
-They return real slow, i mean you have to go get them and put them in hangar yourself.
