I'd like to buy a one-year subscription for a friend. He's watched me play and is quite interested. However, I do not want CCP to associate my credit card to his account, in any way, beyond that first one-year period. If something happens a year from now, I don't want CCP to try to access my card for his account.
What's the best way to accomplish this?

You could get him a bunch of game time cards instead

Personally I wouldnt buy anybody a year subscription... unless they play it in the first place.

This would be a good thing for corporations to buy "member of the month" winners. 1 GTC _____________________________ ... this space for rent ... |

Probably good advice, generally speaking.
However, three of his good friends (including me) already play. He likes this sort of game, he's home a lot, and this gives him a chance to fly with us.

Renard,
I'd recommend buying a bunch of game time codes for him. This way your credit card won't be associated with the account, and if for some reason he turns out to hate the game, the rest of the time codes could still be used by someone else/resold.
Use the refer a friend option on this site and start him with a trial account too, so he can go through the tutorials and start getting used to the game before you give him the GTCs.
Just my .02 ISK.

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 12/12/2006 23:23:41 simple. create the account send him the login info but before you do and once the account has been paid you can do 1 of 3 things, this will work. 1. delete the card number or, this req trust, hit the cancel account button. Once that year has paid off then he will be forced to update the account and reactivate it. or 3 have him in your presence fill out the account information after you paid for the initial payment.

EULA sais the person that opens the acount is the legal owner. So he would have to EMail / phone CCP and get the account transferred.

Game time Codes? What are those? Do you mean, game time cards, as suggested above?
