Over the years there have been plenty of people coming and going from EVE, plenty of them who left unhappy. I always got a kick out of the responses of "can I have your stuff"? Well, I am not leaving unhappy, and no, you can't have my stuff.
I started playing EVE back in 2003, when it was possible to have less than 1000 people online. When CCP changed the plan to specialized characters, I started this one and kept him pure to his race/trade, at least initially. I kept my primary character as PVP/PVE while this guy made the isk; I eventually had 3 characters going.
For the last several years I have not really played much. I would log on from time to time to do some missions, but that was about it. As my isk supply started to dwindle I could no longer justify buying GTC for 3 dormant characters, so I eventually let them go. At this point I still have isk to keep this guy going for another year or so, but I no longer have the will to keep up with skills for a character/game I am likely not going to play.
Most of my friends are long gone from EVE; I wish I kept contact info for more of them as I am curious how they are doing. For you fans of "Babylon 5", I would consider myself, at least in the world of EVE, as one of the "first ones" and it's time for me to go beyond the pale.
I am not writing this for any of you, I am writing this for me. 12 years involved, at any level, in anything will illicit some emotion and this is my way of closing out this chapter.
I want to thank CCP for creating a great game. I have never played such an in-depth and well thought out MMO.
Bye EVE...and again, NO, you cannot have my stuff.

The rules CLEARLY state upon leaving the game and/or biomassing, ALL assets MUST be contracted to Unsuccessful At Everything.
This is non-negotiable.
If you think you've won, think again.

Why let your stuff suffer the indignity of simply vanishing into the code, or gathering dust on an inactive account? Do your stuff a favor, and entrust it to me. My climate controlled hangars are perfect to store even the smallest of belongings, and my specially trained stuff storage specialists will ensure that they are kept in the condition they are received in. Do the right thing Clutch, for you, your stuff, for everyone.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Are you leaving for good? Would you biomass your characters or just leave them unsub? I mean if you are leaving you should erase any evidence of your presence in game other that good memories of you.
But listen the "can i has your stuff" is still sensitive issue and does matter for those who are not leaving the game. So please reconsider your "no you can't has my stuff" and at least you could count on good memories of you. |

EVE is like that fat ex-girlfriend everyone has stashed somewhere. She may be gone for now, but you know you can always pick up the phone anytime you please and hop right back in that. And eventually you will - it's just a matter of time.

If gamers in other games are anything to go by, you don't want to biomass. Gamers have a habit of going back to games once they start to miss them. |

So wait... what is the point of this QQ post? trolling/no sexs/selfie addiction/fun to mess with people? Or just saying eve is dying threat? nobody care if you leave. Only the people you play with care or not. So still whats the point? Saying good bye to eve is like your are sick or worst dying? God hoops not off course.
Or is still a GN post just to shout out to CCP but if you private email them perhaps you get better answer or even a proper farewell. I have seen so many troll post in GN that i can not take this serious. And most of the people here see there names aka troll commanders say everything here. TBH i troll some way to but i`m just curious why post in GN forum? |

Started playing in 2003 he says, some people seek closure a thread is a way of doing that.
The op is trying to convince himself this is the end, so we'll probably see him back in about 6 months. |

Long time players quitting the game with bitterness is always puzzling to me. How did something they put so much time and effort into turn into a bad experience?
I compare it to people who become consumed with golf, but lose interest and decide to do something else. I doubt golfers regret the time they spent playing the game. What makes quitting a video game different? Do players mourn the loss of enjoyment they used to get from the game? Are they angry because they think the game left them? A latent worry that video games are a waste of time?
Perhaps leaving Eve is like a divorce -- it takes a while for some people to remember the good stuff more than the bad.

indeed. eve is like a wife of 20 years. you love the nostalgia of what it was, but you cant stand being around her anymore knowing she's cheating on you with some WOW player down the road. every few months in her devblog she writes something that hints at her eventual divorce papers
