As Miners get better and faster the role of the hauler has been over looked. 3 years ago when I first started play 1 person in a Mark V could haul for a mining OP. Now you almost need 1 hauler for ever miner. Why has this not been changed? Almost everyone still has Mark VÆs.
Here is the math:
Ejected Can Capacity: 27,500 m3
Expanded Cargohold II: 27.5% Cargo Capacity Bonus û the best I know of
Note that all of my numbers are based on Industrial Level V

As long as my math is right you and see with the equipment in game now you can not fix 1 full can into any of the Indys. But I did Learn the is you are going for space the Impel is now better then the Mark V.

Wrong, you can fit a full can into an Iteron V. You can get something around 32km3 if you use secure cans.

TBH, until Rigs are shown to not SUCK (ie. become A LOT more affordable), they can hardly be used as a point of balance...

Heres a little trick for you..LARGE SECURE CONTAINERS.
A large secure container can hold 3900m3 but the actuall size of the containor itself is 3000m3.
So if an Iteron 5 can fit 25,207/3000 = 8.4 which means you can put 8 LSC in your hold.
3000 * 8 = 24000
25207 - 24000 = 1207m3 left over
so 3900 * 8 = 31200 + 1207 = 32407m3 TOTAL CARGO SPACE.
There you go thats how you do it.
P.S. To use the containers jsut assemble them put them in your hold then open them from your hold and pull the ore into the individual containers. Works like a charm

Thanks, I didn't know that you could open a can in space like that. I'll have to try that. but it's stll more work.

Yep as long as the LSC is assembled inside your hold you can open them while their still in your hold
An additional 7000m3 aint to shabby is it

Errrr, if you had been playing EVE from the start, you'd know that an industrial with 5000 m3 is 'leet'.
The real question you should be asking is not why a hauler can't carry 27.500.
A better question is why there are haulers that even can carry 10.000.
And why efficiency of mining has been multiplied so many times it's sick.

6000 * 1.25 (skill) * 1.275^5 (expanders) * 1.2 * 1.2 * 1.5 (rigs) = 41847.789
Can fit 13 GSCs and has 2847 leftover except containers
Total carry capacity: 53547 cubic meters

That was my point. You have to do all these tricks to do it. I think the haulers are do for an upgrade too.
