Upon checking the patch notes for the new patch, heres the improvement, but can anyone tell me which option i should change in order for this to work?
There is now a visible indication of whether wrecks contain lootable items or not. "what indication? i just did a mission, cant find any indication"
Inspected and un-inspected Wrecks can be filtered via Overview settings. "Apply to Ships Only" must not be selected in the Overview preferences for this to function. "how to filter out inspected and un-inspected wrecks so that the inspected wrecks will not show up on overview?"
thank you

As for discerning between empty and lootable wrecks when you will salvage and don't have them off the overview..
The wreck icon is a line on top of a triangle.. the triangle is solid if it has loot, empty if not. It's an annoyingly small difference to look at.

Edited by: Blue Fin on 13/12/2006 21:15:51 mine automatically showed a solid inverted triangle on the overview if it was lootable, if the wreck was empty, it showed and empty inverted triangle, looted ships greyed out as before. don't know if this helps you much

Edited by: BBQ on 13/12/2006 22:37:45 Also under overview settings you can now choose to show the item on overview if it has or has not got loot in, means you can use your overview to loot again, just remove the tick from the show empty / looted wrecks.
The default is to show both empty and lootable wrecks ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

Edited by: Captain O''bvious on 13/12/2006 22:48:36 There are still a number of issues with the way wrecks are handled, even once you properly setup the filter options.
1. After looting a wreck it remains in your overview until you toggle your overview to refresh it. 2. Clicking on a non-empty wreck shows the empty-wreck icon in space. 3. After looting a wreck, your target lock remains. This means when pulling wrecks in with a tractor beam you then need to unlock target manually, or at least turn off your tractor beam manually before you can tractor another wreck. This slows down looting compared to cans.
I'd like to see ships/structures drop BOTH wrecks (if there's something to salvage) AND cans (if there's something to loot). Then we could simply filter wrecks from our overview and loot the cans as normal.

Those of us that salvage still need the wreck targeted to salvage it after the loot is emptied. Unlocking after loot then having to relock to salavge would add time for us.
So which one is more important?
You don't HAVE to lock a wreck to loot, but you do to tractor/salvage, it is better left as is.

My suggestions of separating wrecks and cans makes us both happy...

I have also noticed a small but annoying bug when looting wrecks while doing missions.
Basically if I approach a wreck, then open it and take what's in it, for some reason the overview stops refreshing the range of that wreck. As I move away from one wreck to the next it stays at the top of the list at the range it was at when I openned it. The only way around it I've found is refreshing the overview manually after looting each wreck.
Anyone else noticed this one?

Yes I've noticed this as well ... you have to minimise your overview and then open it again. Very annoying.
Also I've found that when I use a Salvager on a locked wreck, the salvager icon doesn't appear next to the wreck icon, which makes it pretty difficult to remember which target I'm actually salvaging from.
And ... sometimes my tractor beam icon won't disappear from next to the wreck icon when I deactivate it. When I target and activate it on another wreck, I have 2 tractor beam icons next to 2 wreck icons. ------------------------------------------------

I have also noticed that the indicator can sometimes be wrong. Wrecks without loot have them somtimes. Not sure if it just me though.

Use the indicator on the Overview, as the space one usually shows the empty wreck icon, especially if you're selected it so you can target or approach it.

this what i been saying since Rev patch ..
We Need need the wrecks to unlock once all the loot has been taken out of the wreck just as if it was a jetcan poping.. is that really so hard CCP >

No kidding/amen/agreed.
To the rest who ask for the insta unlock of tractor beams... give me an eve-mail or message ingame. I'd be more than happy to remove those pesky wrecks for you.
