Were the rats mercenary or "insert faction here" navy ships? they still don't drop salvage items.

It appears they fixed the drops for those that already dropped components but did not fix the mercs, faction ships, and non-ship wrecks.

that's the problem along with the poster above you.
Do a mission against Serpentis/Gurista/Angel/Blood Raider/ect and you'll get salvage materials.

tbh mission rats shouldnt drop salvage stuff. That would make belt ratting in empire more attractive.

Edited by: Daegrath on 13/12/2006 22:02:23 It's absurd to think certain missions shouldn't give salvage. There are missions with angel and belt rat types in them. If certain missions don't give salvage, people will stop doing those missions.
Amarr/Caldari/ETC Navy ships, merc ships, ALL NPC ships should drop salvage. If T1 rigs are really supposed to change the face of pvp and add diversity, the materials need to be readily available.
I just finished War Situation pt4. All amarr navy ships, not one piece of salvage. I won't be doing that mission again. Isn't additional content supposed to encourage people to do other things, not restrict it?

Just out of curiousity, did every mission that you ran before revelations give out the same amount and type of loot?
Cause if they did, I was running for the wrong agent/corp/faction... I certainly learned quickly what the loot was like on each mission, and whether or not I should bother collecting it.
If you want a roleplay perspective...perhaps your shot pierced the reactor and turned everything into unuseable irradiated junk.

Why must everything be available to mission runners, it is not the only thing to do in this game. Finally something that ppl need to go to belt rats for and you whiney mission runners start with this crap.
I dont give a **** about how realistic it is, its something useful you can do in lowsec or just plain belt hunting. Get over yourselves, please.

Generally speaking, I believe salvage is set up so that "pirate" factions (Angels, etc) traded a majority of their loot in exchange for salvage, whereas drones and "fleet" ships (Amarr, Caldari, etc) drop normal loot (or compounds) but have no salvage.
I have yet to try out salvage after today's patch, but unless it's significantly better than it was yesterday, I'd happily give it up in exchange for actually getting loot like we used to. It's gotten to the point that I don't bother looting my Angel missions any more; it's just not worth the effort per ISK.

They ARE readily available - get out to the belts.

Like, do something other than run the same 40 missions over and over?

Bingo. You can beg to make high sec so boring nobody will ever want to be there, but you know what? Not only will they not be there, they wont be in low sec or no sec either.
Without hijacking the thread, the devs know what needs to be done to repop lowsec. The question is wether or not they are willing to get off their egos and do it.

The risk vs. reward matrix for level 4 missions (especially empire ones) is already where it should be.
The Dev's intent was never to make this more lucrative.
However, feel free to venture to low security and 0.0 space, you will find plenty of rats that all have nice bounties, good drops and salvagable comps.

The difference as of today is huge. Belt rat battleships are dropping maybe ten times the salvage they used to? The price of salvage is about to crash and crash hard. I'm betting that within weeks, it'll be possible to build rigs for no more than a few tens of millions.

I find if you go to overview settings, click on the ships tab, check the ship type box.
Now when you salvaging if you look at the wreck with your pointer it will have one of these at the end. (wreck) these I have never found salvage from. Now if it says (Faction Small/Medium/Large Wreck) These do.

Fixed, there is no reason to be in low sec unless you like losing isk/ships/pods.

If these ships aren't meant be salvagable then they wouldn't drop wrecks. I think the Devs were/are in a time crunch and haven't fixed certain wrecks yet.

Yay!! Mission running is already a too necessary evil. Don't make it necessary for rig building as well.
Oh, and metal scraps were coming up in my salvage of faction/merc ships before the patch last night, has that changed?
