Hello, I was one of the attendants of today's event. It's been my first event, and I found it quite entertaining. Despite the technical problems it was a joyful experience. The moment when the 250 ships appeared before me was simply stunning. The ceremony was well rehearsed, although the fact that we didn't get to see the special Apocs and Frigates was a bit disappointing.
Nevertheless, thank you CCP, please do it again!

dude, show me a development team that organises an event which seemed to be purposely designed to trash the game.
Would you have thought that was likely until you saw it happen. ---------------- There are no bugs just locked threads |

Old Winter, nope, it isnt. I just wanted to show that not everybody who was at the event is whining "CCCP you suxx0rz". As long as CCP roleplays things like the "communication problem", I'm not bothered by them. What bothered me are the masses of people who whined in Local and in Championship_Awards because they couldn't get in, couldn't get out, were being locked, podded or just bored (things, that don't have anything to do with the event itself).

I second all this but would like to add that it's ok if they roleplay problems only if they're fixing them at the same time (musta been hell in CCP HQ and London today ).

Okay, apologies, I failed to keep RP and RL seperated.
I wish I had been there to see the event but unfortunately the communications problems and a surprise ticket allocation meant I was not allowed into the festivities. ---------------- There are no bugs just locked threads |

I want to add something: Of course I can understand it when people are ****ed off by technical problems. I was in Amarr at 16:45 and my client locked up at 16:55 and I couldn't get back in at first (tried with 3 characters :-)), so I know how those "left out" feel. And I agree that CCP needs to work to solve the difficulties. What I don't consider to be fair is when people complain that CCP "can't get anything right". All of the involved parties probably invested a lot of work in today's event, and they should be given credit for that.

I missed it as well as I made the mistake of logging out to change my res to 1024-768 for Fraps although i was sat there for a good 2 hours before hand and got some screenies captured when the first people started arriving.
Despite the trouble, I enjoyed it still, something different for me to do. It was a great shame about all the whiners but I have a great tool for them on chat called BLOCK which works quite effectivelly.
I have great respect for the CCP and Polaris peeps, they have a lot more patience than me with some of those who spammed the help channel and then the awards channel at first.
Congrats to Eclipitcal and co and I hope you enjoy your new ships - you deserved them. Maybe you would be so kind to show them off with a few screenies for me
I know nothing about servers/networks but maybe a dedicated events server that could be used to host 1 system (such as Amarr) and carry say 500 people could be used temporailly for events of this size in future??
Ah well - have fun people!

Heh, I was thinking about the same while waiting at the black screen. I think that can't be too hard to implement, maybe CCP could consider something like that?

Dude... show me a game that the DEVs give interviews saying it will support 10k players online shortly. Show me a game where, despite the fact that IT WON'T HANDLE the load, it is officially advertised that a huge player gathering will take place. _______________________________________________

Being stuck and wating 15 minutes to load a screen is NOT supposed to be there too. If the problem didn't exist in the first place, the channel wouldn't be necessary, and all players would be happy by now, to have attended to the ceremony. _______________________________________________

Well, it's not meant to be in the same system...
Of course, with 2.5-3x the current number of players online, highways will get very crowded. However, many more will have moved to 0.0 space by then, in their own alliance/corp stations.

You whiners simply disgust me. I feel great pity for the people who are so starved for things to do that they completely flip over when they can't attend one lowsy event.
I heard some guy say that he got up at 6am in the morning to be present at the event, that almost made me fall out of my chair laughing.

Login to EQ, go to the Bazaar zone on a busy server. In fact, they were able to handle those sort of numbers in EC tunnel 3 or 4 years ago, laggy as hell, but it didn't boot you out the game.

The bazaar is especially setup for handling large player loads. Gfay for exmaple crashed multiple times when getting near the 200 player mark. Where you around at the "wrath of the ranger" player event?
I do think CCP should have hooked up a heavy machine to the amarr solarsystem for this event.

accordingt to what one of the polaris people said they didnt expect 300 peopel to try and show up. The ceramony didnt unvail any new tech really. Minus the elite frigates but big deal . Although on the plus side CCP did get to find out how much one system can take. in the future if they see that a system will be flooded by an event chances are they'll be prepared for it as a result. So for 30 minutes of inconvince we should'nt have the problem again, that works for me. Now if they have the problem again that's a differnt story. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website
