I got a 20k NPC combat mission. I cann't afford Crusier yet. People have told me that I can take them on with Kestrel.(My vigil was blown up in matter of seconds...)
What's the good modul set up for Kastrel to take on 20k NPC? Anyone?

4 M-12 launchers (heavy missiles, you shouldn't train cruise already) 1 small shield booster 2 shield hardeners (what kind of 20k NPC is it?) Low slots: What suits you best. Capacitor power relays, overdrives etc.

Here is what you do buy a Incursus stick some 150mm rails on shield booster 2 power diagnostics when you meet him stay at the max range of your weapon or should I say max optimal range! So right click on him at say 16km? and click stay at present range then when your ship is tunrned away from him double click in the direction your now faceing but at a slight angle then right click on krull again and keep at present distance from this point onwards all his missiles will fly past you then come back then fly past you etc untill they explode for no damage! Yes no DAMAGE! once this is all set up and your keeping your distance and missiles are flying past kill the henchmen first you can lock all 3. Then kill krull just bring plenty of ammo and you wont even get scratched

What kind of NPC is this? Not all 20K shoot missiles, but one or two does, like the Sansha Ravisher.

I do them with a Rifter:
3x 250mm Scouts 1x Malkuth with heavies
1x Shield booster 1x Ab
1x Pneumatic 1x Azimuth
Otherwise if you are dead set on Kestrel:
4x M-12
3x AB
3x Overdrive
Fit hvy's in those launchers and keep blasting away at full speed.

Punisher.
Smartbomb for missile defence, med beams w radio crys. Stay at about 20km and take them down.
Very simple. Very cheap ;) ----------------------------------------------

I did this against Ravishers, Ravagers, Arch Reavers and other 20-30k rats for a month when in my Pun.

i took out an agel depretender in my rifter..before i even had surgical strike. granded i was 1 missile away from the end..but the fact that Dep. was a cloud of hot gas and a CC should mean something, right?

In a Kestrel use heavy missiles and 3 ABs, forget about the sheild booster, go for speed, Load one of the m-12s with defenders.
Swoop in fire the missiles, then get outa range, reload, and repeat.
A kestrel with Cruise missiles can take Crusiers any day, but I doubt you have the skills for them.

I agree... speed is ore of a must againt that kinda NCP. with killer speed you can damn near outrun the missles... and the spalsh will be way less then iff your a slow ass. so ABS are a must and agility will help u out a lot too. with good ships skills from a BS i can fly a rifter like a crazy little fly. tun fast on a dime and great gunnry skills. with this it would be easy to take 20-30k...1vs1 that is... any more then 1 or 2 at a time and damn near any frigate pilot would be podded. Thanks all for the tips. I beat the NPC .
I used Kestrel with 4x A-12 with Hovac Missiles, 3x AB's and 2x overdrive.
I used the tactic recommanded by GavTheMighty and it worked like a charm. Only damage was sustained while waiting for my ship to get to good range and turn around.
I only used about 40 missiles too.

Edited by: SUNscatcher on 25/11/2003 23:11:57 I just got my first 20K mission(Krull and his henchmen). It wash't him so much as his dam heavy havok missles that kept my punisher from terminating him. I called for help and was able to enlist the assistance of a more seasoned player to terminate ole mister krull.
Prior to that I had been terminating 20/30K pirates with ease in the fountian region as long as they weren't spitting missils at me(just have to find the right system to hunt in). With the pathetic hybrids they use keeping out of range was simple.
PS this krull was in a ship that I have never seen before. might have been a special or tech two ship. If you can catch me you can have me. |

i take 0.0 in a Caracal and the lvl 5 navigation and lif ABs and overdrive injectors for a +30 m/s in speed... and 5 Cruise launchers is cool... NCPs drop like flys |
