Hi.. I installed direct X 9.0.. cuz I was having truoble witht he divx.dll and I solved that on my own.. but when I enter the game... I get such poor graphics and I can't see any text... so that is the problem.. I can't change any settings.. Ive tried to manually set the Eve Client to "256 Colours" manually in the properties compatibility screen, but that didnt work either. Im currently at the end of my wit here and am requesting help from anyone who might have a solution to this problem.

nVidia graphics card??? (I bet you have)
One driver release gave this exact problem, the driver was optimised to not render anything that was hidden to improve speed, it thought the text was not needed so it didn't render it.
Solution was to update your graphics card drivers to fix the problem.

How on EARTH did you get EVE to run on DX 8.1b?! I thought you needed DX9.0c to run the game, minimum 0.o .

I do not know how it works -.- LOL.. but.. yeah.. uhm, where could I get updated Nvidia drivers? thanks for the help btw.

Windows startbutton -> Control panel -> System -> (not sure what the tab is called in english, running windows XP in swedish, something with MachineXXX?) -> top button on that tab. Then just click the graphiccard box

Open control panel and double click on system. Go to hardware tab and click on device manager. Should be listed under display adaptors.

Definatly appreciate everyone's help! I can actually see text, but the colour is all fuxed up still :\ back to the ol' drawing bored lol.

Assuming it works you can also go to the Start menu, select "Run" and in the window that appears type in "dxdiag" and hit the Return key. Assuming it works correctly, the Direct X diagnostics window should appear. Click on the tab named "Display" and it should give you some idea what video card is in your system.

Hey guys, ok so my first problem was solved.. I can see text now after I updated my drivers.. but now I have this purple haze still hanging over my game screen. If anyone knows how to fix this please help me out! Thanks!

it didnt work for me but it atleast collects the info you need to
continue improving your computer. :D
