As Subject says , Any ETA on a PERM Fix for the CTD's At gates ?
As explained in previous threads too numerous to highlight but here is my original Linkage ,
many of us out here are still suffering this problem , i have 2 different machines which do it , my son's machine doesn't . My 2 machines are 64 bit processors , one single core , one dual core , the boy's machine is a bog standard athlon .
This has been broke since the first revelations roll out(not had one issue prior to this ) , now 2 patches on its still here , any ETA/Update on this rather annoying bug .

Keep sending them logs and bug reports. I think they need more info to fix it, since it happens to only a handful of people, and none of you seem to be using anything out of the ordinary (hardware wise). So its a difficult bug to find.

There's a topic somewhere how to make a proper bugreport, I suggest you read it and do it.. if you don't send CCP info on what's happening when you crash, they can only guess at what causes it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Xaroth Brook Brainiac of Doomcraft |

Bit late for that , i have done this since day one of the problem ..
Still no eta on the fix , they havent even listed it on the known issues
Hence the Plea For an ETA or Some form of Acknowledgment of a an issue .

bugreporting something -once- is useless, especially in a case where 95% of the community doesn't have the issue.. keep making those bugreports, keep explaining what you did.. if the devs have no way to reproduce it, they can only rely on bugreports to show them where to look.. and if they -can- reproduce it, it's another bunch of helpfull information that can confirm their ideas.
The more information you give them, the bigger the chance you get them to fix the bug. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Xaroth Brook Brainiac of Doomcraft |

Yeah, I think players who havent tried programming dont understand how a programmer works. Steps to reproduce is probably the best gift you can give a programmer. :)

you forgot to mention to make sure you run the Logserver ( found in the directory ) before you start your client. This will show lots of lines of code that CCP can use to locate/help/understand what is happening whilst the "bug" is occuring.

... Steps to reproduce .. warp to gate .. crash, log back in, server warps your ship back to the gate , . . . . Crash, rinse repeat :)

Hehe, well, in this case it doesnt help since the steps to reproduce doesnt work for every player. :)
So run the log server and keep spamming bug reports until their white flag shows up and they surrender. :)

Log files are good, but for CTDs we *really* need the .dmp files that are generated with a matching version number and timestamp from the time of the crash. Off the top of my head, you'll find them in the logs directory, and I can't stress enough how important they are in finding the problem.

Yes the patch did nothing to me, still CTDing but the delete cache/Browser/img folder on login fix is working still, so if you haven't tried it yet do it!
Open EVE, delete the folder in EVE/cache/Browser/img then login, you have to do this everytime though

More people with Intel chips are having a problem.
I'll let you cry now, Intel fanboy .
Like Redun said. Dump files and log server recordings are what helps them. Simply saying "MY EVE CRASHES AT GATES, FIX IT!", does not help them in anyway. If you want a fix help them by:
Running LOGSERVER.EXE, creating a new log, and then running EVE.
When EVE crashes, SAVE the log in LOGSERVER.EXE to desktop. Then, go into C:\..\..\..\CCP\EVE\Logs, and get the latest .DMP file. You can find the latest by looking for the time & date, #crash b27912 2006.12.03 21.06.46.dmp. ---

to avoid those crashes do the following:
1. start up eve, don't log in 2. delete the img folder in cache/browser 3. log in
this solved the crashes for me when i did this on every startup and after a reboot they were gone completely.

I usually don't have this issue, but of course the one time every 2 weeks that I do PVP, it happens when I jump through a gate with hostile fleets on the other end. :S . Rimhawk Winds of Vengeance (W8V) |
