I was in nausschie (.8) last night just flying thru the vaires moons to check a new setup. I saw this guy (Searpis -1.4) on local chat looking for a fight, claim he's in a Scorp and he's going to kill anyone he see and he's going thru the belts.
He eventually dropped in to my location and proceed to lock me up and started firing. I returned fire with a salvo of missiles (6). I was surprised when the first few missiles seems to destroy his ship (turns out he's only in a frigate).
Well, here's my problem, thinking that he's in a scorp, I let losse with 2 torp, 2 cruise and 2 FOF cruise. while the first missile takes out his ship. the slower torps are still on it's way in and I ened up podding him.
Next thing I know, I see a message that my sec rating have dropped to -2.4 for pod kill and the cops shows up and start firing at me. I tried to flee but was scrambled. so I just turned on my shield booster and disconnected.
I have a corpmate went out to the belt and luckily there was only 1 corpse (Serapis) cops are still around. I wait till this morning for the cop to disappear and I return to station (40% armor left). Repairing the ship is easy but now I'm stuck with a -2.3 rating. What can I do?

You can petition, but they will most likely give you some sort of excuse like they gave me and not help you in any way, You can find an gent that can fix your sec status for you, And you can hunt pirates for the meager boost in sec status they give.

Edited by: Darrin Tobruk on 23/11/2003 03:47:18 Let me see if i understand this: this guy shows up, starts firing, you return fire in self defence, and you lose SR for wasting his ass??? That's whacked!! CCP should fix that for you. I wish you luck...

Yea, the thing is. If someguy tells me he's in a scorp and is ready to attack anyone he sees. When he show up in my belt and proceed to lock me up and fire, I'm not really going to have time to do a show info on what kind of ship he really is before I fire back.

okay two things here i just wanted to point out.
The little icon is very different between a frigate and a battleship.
The pod didnt initate combat with you. You had already killed the ship. So therefore i believe in CCPs eyes you initiated combat vs the pod.
I think you can wait the 4 days or so to start moving around right or do you have to move asap.
Enjoy the game, I know I am

Well I can't tell all the ship icon by heart and I never targeted the pod. That said, what do you mean by waiting 4 days? will the neg sec rating slowly imporve? If so, how long will it take?

Edited by: Lottsa Pox on 23/11/2003 07:21:40 .1 per day improvemnent. Its really irrating to try and keep that neg ten status.
Btw doesnt matter if you had the pod targeted if the torp hit the pod and or the splash damage hit the pod its considered intiating combat. Enjoy the game, I know I am

yeah the other day i was gonna blow up this dude in luminaire, just his ship, and then fix my ss with my low-quality fixer (she cant fix anything below -2). well one of the torps accidently blew the pod and i found myself in luminaire with a -3.4 SS. so, i figured all was lost and went through the rest of the belts and podded everyone.
it was pretty cool.

I had that too. Went from like -1.7 to -6 just because I fired one missile to many, and yeah, the other guy attacked me first. GMs said they would do nothing about it. So I did the only thing and became a vicious griefer.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

Most of ma shocking sec rating has been caused by splash damage.
Like for example, fighting a space invaders guy at the JI to aunenen, i let ma cruise loose, and an indy jumps in rite in front of ma little babies .

You're fully resonsible for your actions. I would by myself a shuttle, go out and let CONCORD shoot it to a pod.
But they won't because you're not on CONCORD's kill list with a -2.3 in a 0.8 system. So you're not really 'stuck' but I woulden't go to a 1.0 system because there you're kill on sight.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

What is the max negative security status you can have in a 1.0 system. How about a .9 system? I always thought that there was a line drawn at -5.0.......anything greater then that was KOS for Concord (as well as other players and the cops wouldn't show) and anything -4.9 or less was ok. Guess I was wrong in that assumption?

The only thing I have left to say is that the pod needs to be fixed, Missile user are being penalized unfairly since you do not have this problem with Gun user. The simple way would be to increase the Pod' shield and armor or make it indestructible for say the first 30 seconds.

Sorry to hear that happend but, I have to say that splash dmg is a frace at times and at other times you really want it. I lost a MOA to slpash dmg before and, I have taken out several pods with it on purpose I might add. Get a good agent and have them fix your sec and if anyone shoots at you in a .6 or higher sec system do your dead best to avoid the cops when they show. Best of uck you you and i hope to see you my area soon.

If you are that stupid that you dont check what ship he is in then DONT play the game.. You carebears are all the same, im getting sick and tired of ppl complaining. The worst part must be those Highsecurity BS miners that convo me asking " why did you target me " when i havent done it.. i have a low sec status and i come up as a threat when entering your carebear space.. For every whining maggot i see im gonna podkill 2.
Thank you for calling, BYE!

Some people actually care about their security rating, man. I think splash damage in this context shouldn't damage a person's reputation; especially since the guy in the frig was stupid enough to initiate combat with a BATTLESHIP!!! BTW, battleship mining in high security space is a bit lame...

A similar thing happened to me while I (and 3 others) were attacking a pirate (Warnei) at a JIP I fired a torpedo when jhered Stern came though also, same corp at the time (bloody hands, now part of huff) but jhered had a + SS so it set me back a little. Of course jhered warped off while we finished off the scorp and then bragged that we didn't get him...
In other news, there was a build up of ships today in Amarr debating on whether or not we should invade sarum prime, there was an alt by the gate (72km out) that was spying on it to see when we were going to jump in (which never happened, ) so i decide to take matters into my own hands and decide to kill the alt... I podded him (with torps of course ) and ran for dear life, of course the new patch lagged me and I had to disconnect while running from concord (likely excuse) and when i got back on, there wasn't even a corpse for me to pick up. The only reason I know I podded the newb, (Robotnik I believe), is because when I logged back on I had only a .2 SS when I did have a 3.2... not only that, the corpse mysteriously disappeared while I was offline... Concord did come finish me off eventually but at least I was insured. The thought of losing 3.0 SS and not having anything to show for it made me want to kill the next person I saw (if I didn't get that one, I'll take this one...) luckily Concord humbled me before I could lose more SS.

Yea, unfortunatly, Concord is UBER! Lost a caracal while trying to nail an ore thief once. Anyway, if you used torps you probably disintegrated the corpse. Oh well, nOob corpses aren't a hot comodity anyway.

Well, I wouldn't be mad if all this is documented somewhere in a updated manual (pdf would be fine). But none of this info is available to me except from other users. But coming from a non combat corp, that info was not passed on to most of us.

It must be fate... I post on this topic... a few days later and splash damage from two missiles headed for NPC pirates hit a sentry gun... bye bye frigate. Might only be cheap to replace but still a pain in the neck

No, the point is that you can take a bad situation and make it into something good! I'm going back tonight, how many newbies do you think I can pod before Concord nails my Caracal?
I say 5.
