Hi all! This may have been asked before but all I keep finding is old discussions long before it was actually introduced.
The description of the Salvage skill says "Proficiency at salvaging ship wrecks. Required skill for the use of salvager modules. 5% increase in chance of salvage retrieval per level."
What exactly does this mean? Does it mean the higher my skill the more salvage I get? Or does it only mean that the amount of "failed attempts" are lowered?
Thank you for your replies!

It means that the percentage chance of successfully salvaging something is increased (even if there's nothing of value).
Certain advanced ships (T2 ships for example) require higher levels of the skill before you're able to salvage from them.
It's debated whether higher level of the salvage skills actually gets you more per salvage attempt, but I've seen no evidence that this is the case.

Some kind of evidence, that is exactly what I am looking for :)

I'm curious about this: what skill level do you need to salvage an Officer wreck, or a Dread/True/Shadow etc wreck?

Some people have reported level 3 is required, others have reported level 4. If your skill is insufficient to salvage something, a message will pop up telling you of this fact.
I can't clarify what level is required for faction/officer spawns as I don't have access to them and my salvage skill is already at 4.

Salvaging L3 worked fine for T2/officer ships for me. Also i'v noticed that i salvage more parts per wreck with L4 then i was salvaging with L1 (all before patch),but don't take it as ganted i was salvaging too short with L1 skill.Working on L5 atm ---------------------------------------- Smith & Wesson--the ORIGINAL point-and-click interface! |

I would like to know the answer to this as well. But since drops are really random, it's hard to tell from personal experience.. so I think we need a reply from CCP on this. ----- Enjoying life on the other side of the fence
