Ok you get yourself a nice 60 million isk battleship, spend 21 million to insure it and are given a policy that will repay 70 million isk back. Ok now at the end of my 3 week policy I have 2 choices 1. Destroy ship and get 70 million isk 2. Keep ship and have a 60 million isk ship.
mmm wonder which one is more profitable.
A better way to do this would be to have a no claims system where I get reduced insurance every 3 weeks if I dont claim and this is specific to the ship I insure. e.g I insure my ship with the most basic policy, after 3 weeks I renew it and would get 10% off my next insurance, I then insure with the most expensive policy and after 3 weeks I now get 10% and 20% off my next insurance. The percentage bonus wouldnt add but would be taken off progressively, in order of the policies.....so I would get a 10% reduction on 21 mill then a 20% reduction on the sum of this.
This has got to be better than destroying my Battleship evry 3 weeks.

"mmm wonder which one is more profitable."
well 70mill payout less 21mill spent on insurance is 49 mill net so best to keep the 60 mill ship obviously

I know that I will lose money, the point I was making was that by destroying my ship before the insurance runs out I will only lose 11 million rather than 21 million.

ok i see that know , slightly more awake.
With that in mind i agree insurance needs an overhaul. It should never be more "profitable" to blow your own ship up. I guess it's a complicated issue with ship prices so low compared to what ccp thinks they should be selling for. Finally why would an insurance companies pay out to someone who blows their own ship up

The fault is the Produdction Efficiency skill, I believe... At level 5 it takes 20% off mineral usage, 20% + 60 mil is 72mil and there's your difference. Basicly I'd say they haven't made up for the Prod.efficiency skill... They just need to add it to the equation and I think everything will be just splendid. Basicly 100% insurance will(should) tops pay out: minerals*npc_prices - 20% - waste, always.

Insurance shouldn't pay out on self-destruction, death to gang members, death to corpmates, or death to anybody at war with your corp. Insurance never pays out on avoidable risks; let alone on deliberate damage.

Have a renewal fee to keep the insurance active. Say once the initial 3 weeks runs out, have it so you have to pay say 10% of the original value to keep the insurance active for say another week. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

Edited by: Eisha on 25/11/2003 01:23:59 Add an insurability rating to the char. The more claims you make, the more risk you are to insure, the higher your insurance will cost, tell finally, they won't insure you anymore.
Set the rating by number of completed polies * insured levels / claims * insured levels or some such.

Everyone should have an insurance safety rating based on # of claims... the more claims they file the higher risk they are & the more insurance costs... also if ppl never use their insurance, it should get cheaper... lots cheaper than 1/4 the cost of the return.... this would also discourage insurance fraud... tralala. -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000
