I know that there are 4 racial signatures that can be found with a multispectral probe.
What does it mean when a result is an "Unknow" type. Is it a bug ? Is it a failed attempt and i need to rescan or it is a "special" hidden plex that is way much harder to find and requires several tries using all racial probes.
Can anyone help me with this.

unknown has equal chance to be found by any racial probe

it means place the new racial exploration probes at the planets
hit scan, wait, order a pizza, hope you get results
repeat till you found it, by which time you've eaten the pizza

No it doesnt, because it does not show you where the unknown signal is... so its just all guestimate... nice time sync.

You know it is the system somewhere. I use a smiliar strategy to Mortok Tristan to find the location. Except I tend to order a curry.

Its not ment to show you the location just what type of scan probe to use. It says unknown type you know there is a signal in that system you can use any probe type to find. At least you know there is a sig in system.

You missed out the part where the node crashes and you lose all your probes
