Seeing the amount of awesome feedback on the Myrmidon you guys wrote, id like to know your thoughts on the Hyperion, my more or less end of the line goal. Once again, feedback about its specific abilities, the most useful things about it, your setups (in general) and the general feeling of it are the points of subject, or whatever else you feel like saying about it :)
Thanks!

Kind of disappointing to me I dont really know what this ship is ment for, I probably just have missed a post or something to do with the new ships, but i think its kind of nothing new.. its a slightly different megathron.. which is the ship im sticking with. I would of prefered a ship that wasnt better but just different. an acutal blastership would of been nice. The Rokh seems to be good, and very different from the rest of the Caldari ships would of been nice to have an actual new battleship I guess. Thats just my opinion I could be wrong.

Its REALLY BIG..lol thats the only experience I have with it. Someone in my alliance had one out flying it around the other day. It's probably the biggest BS out there.
That being said...it stands out on the battlefield like as if their were a Bullseye painted on it.

And like the Megathron, the Hyperion is a kick ass sniper, and an acceptable blaster ship. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Well sadly the T2 ammo nerf kidda screws this totally. as a low sec gate sniper it cant kill a untanked t1 hauler in 1 volly. and with Intertal stabs being the weapon of choice the heavierst of haulers they warp off before you can get a 2nd volly.

To me it seems like this:
CCP set out to create a dedicated blastership, but honestly trying to create a blastership, you can tweak the mass, the targetting range but a great portion of what makes the Megathron such a great blastership is the bonuses-- the damage bonus is a necessary evil of course, and the tracking bonus which gives you an incredible edge when fighting up close. Now of course you can't just slap another tracking bonus on to the Hyperion otherwise it really will be just another Megathron. So what do they do? They gave it an extra midslot so you can put a tracking computer. Now balance of course requires that you can't just go around putting now slots on ships, so a low slot was removed. To counter the deficit of the extra low, it got an armor repair bonus. So now we have a ship that has a slightly more difficult time tracking and hitting smaller targets, but has a somewhat greater MWD speed and a fairly capable tank. ____________________________ my sig |

I've seen remarkably fewer of these things than I have of Rokhs, or even Abaddons (and only one Maelstrom because my corpmate is insane =P). I can't comment on their destructability as of yet. ----------------------------

Fit it with 1 recon probe launcher and 7 blasters. Give it a MASSIVE tank and lots of warp scrammers/webbers.
Scan for juicy targets then warp it in at 0km (practice with probes makes perfect, spend a day playing with them and you'll learn how to scan most things down to a deviation of 0 using multiple probes meanining you can actually warp right on top of them).
Jam and lock all the big targets in place immediatly and then have several longer range ships with light tanks but HIGH damage potential warp in and focus fire to pop everything (also give some of the long range ships sensor dampers so nothing can hit them, they should have weak tanks so they do rediculous ammounts of damage).
Warping in with the probes at 0 suprises the hell out of people and most of the time they scatter about and panic unable to take much action before its already too late and anything worth destroying is locked in place and hurting badly. You know where they are and exactly what is there thanks to the scanners scann for all ship types at once while they have no idea what is in store for them
Enemy fire gets focused onto the Hyperion which is fitted with a massive tank, 2 long range high damage battleships (I like railgun megas) + the damage from the hyperion will usually be enough to tear apart other battleships in quick order if you concentrate fire (give everthing a number tag so your gang can just go down the list in numerical order once they warp to the scene, make sure they enable the Tab colum option so they can see the tags)

I wont show u my setup, not cuz i use it, but because i dont wanna see it used on me :<, but 3 armor repair ammount rigs + BS 5 = 1700 armor repped per cycle. --- Eris Discordia is miiiiiine |

And you actually managed to get 3 armor rep rigs?
Are they alot easier to manufacture after wednesdays patch? I have not had time to do any salvaging since then.

You can fit 3 t1 versions, although this was from SiSi testing. But to answer your rig building question, yes they are easier to build after the patch, hence the lowering price. --- Eris Discordia is miiiiiine |

The Hyperion is nothing special until it is rigged. Then there is so many variations that it will make even the most hardened blaster pilots cream their pants -----
