This mission has changed quite a bit and gives quite a test for the unknowing pilot. I like to use a Nighthawk for missions, fitted with five Heavy Launcher II, a tractor, salvager and a decent tank having resistances 80%+ across the board. The first two stages contain a multitude of frigates, cruisers, battlecruisers and several battleships. However, these are easy compared to the third and final stage. After warping in to the final stage, there were four Ravens, two Scorpions, many BC, cruisers and frigates. I targeted a frigate and opened fire, hardeners active, shield not. Seems I shot the wrong group as the screen lit up red and froze for about ten seconds as all their missiles were sent my way. The first movement I saw I turned my shield on and pointed myself in the direction of a station just in case. Fortunately, the tank held, the shield did its job and the enemy was picked off as fast as possible. And when most flashing red targets were down, I spotted a small group of five cruisers and four frigates showing no interest. Perhaps I should have shot them first. Watch out for this one, it just might bite!

Yeah the 3rd stage is tough. I had to warp out twice and then take 15 minutes to fly through gates 1 and 2 to get a shot at it again. On top of that bounties and loot were crap. This mission will be an automatic reject for me from this day on.

if your in a NH try using 6 launchers and running 3 KE hardners, this should give you enough tank and DPS to reduce the dammage(kill BCs, then Crusers, then destroyers, then BS, then frigs) (youll need about 55-60shield/sec max regen) Also dont approch, eather stay still or back off so you have more time.

I don't know about Guristas one, but I would check the 3rd stage for other damages than the standard two. In the Angels version, I was tanked EXP/KIN and in stage 3 my tank was failing fast. I found out several of the ships was doing THERMAL damage too, heavy dmg. Maybe a similar challenge here too?

angels do alitle thermal and alittle EM in adition to the main 2 dammage types. only gurista towers do EM damamge and there arnt any in the 3rd stage. all Gurista NPCs do mostly KE(missiles) and some thermal(minor) youll need 95%+ KE resist and a descent tank to survive this one.

I tanked the dmg with a passive Drake (2x T2 Invul Fields and 1x T2 KE Field) while my Raven friend used a shield transporter on me and wasted ****. It took a little while to get the process down, but is pretty easy afterwards.
Great salvaging afterwards as well :P

I'm surprised that there aren't more complaints about the long treks between gates in this mission, rather than the crappy bounties...lol
Either way, I've done my old "I'll try any mission once" with this one, and It's going to be rejected every time it's offered to me

Yup, I had to warp out of room 3 and this was before I'd started looting and salvaging the first 2 rooms. With 5 Cap recharger T2's in mids, theres no room for an ab, so it was a real long hike at 143 m/s. There should be some kind of way to alter the travelling time between gates.

I'm not sure what your guys problem can be with that 3rd stage... Just keep some range and the missile-rain is no biggy to tank... just with the standard 2*T2 ballistic + 1*T2 heat (and a internal forcefield in the low's) i hardly need to boost my shields while moving away from the pack and popping them happily one by one...
I have to say i rather find this mission fun than as many of you stated (a instant reject)
then of course i don't know how hard this might be with a sitting duck raven :D

Biggest problem : the first time you run this mission you'll think the groups will agro seperately like in other missions. But once you start shooting 1, they all agro and if you are not at a nice distance it's pretty hard to tank.

as i told oyu before.. this missions is easy:
fit a ab and a sensorbooster -> maxrange -> snipe -> you wont need a tank at all!

I just finnished that one just now, it was pretty easy. I used a zealot with a guardian for support. I had the Guardian feed the zealot cap and help repairs with 2 medium remote repairers, while I had the zealot sit in 1 spot soaking the damage (I had a Medium armour rep II, EANM II, DC and Energised Kinetic Nano), and killing anything in range (I try to stay in 1 spot for easier looting/salvaging. I had 0 problems with that combo, never went bellow 70% armour. Tho this mission just reminds me of how much there needs to be an option to turn off missile effects, as 30 or so ships firing missiles at you can be a graphical mess.

Though that isn't exactly solo, is it?

Indeed I had the same problem, with a full t2 raven tank w/ XLarge t2, 2kin/2thermal (perhaps should go 3kin/1thermal) and a boost amp I could not tank the dps while arby-torping the cruisers/BC first... had to warp out a few times and then I found the solution - doing other things while my raven spends half an hour travelling back to lv3 :D :S

Ever tried this mission with anything else then a Raven ? If you have a long range ship it's easy, if you try it in a short range ship it's a lot harder.

Do any of these stages aggro on warp-in? Otherwise it sounds ideal for a Tempest or Rokh at range with damage and sensor mods and no need to clogg up those slots with pesky tanking modules.

Ok then smart arse
I just did it solo in an absolution, 2 rep, kinetic tank, 0 problems. Took a little longer due to using focused pulse II and no damage mods (had to use beta cap relays to keep the reps running), but it was about the same dificulty, just slow going. A dual rep tank and keeping on the move is definetly the way to go.
Not a bad mission for salvage, I can probably build a decent rig with what i got.

That's better! The more the challenge, the more the fun And as for those sniping from range? Where's the fun in that??

There's the uncertainty on new or erratic missions (Infiltrated Outposts) of warping in tankless and no short range weapons except light drones not knowing if you're going to be greeted by a truckload of miffed bad guys with tacklers
Once I've finalised my set up for autocannon maelstrom I'm looking forward to some up close action.
