Hi,
I've been playing for a week or two :) - When I started playing eve I had no idea really what were the best attributes, skills etc, so played it by ear. After a week my stats have ended up a bit lopsided.
11 Intelligence 11 Perception 17 Charisma 6 Willpower 7 Memory
Even though I tried to make it as even as poss when i made it, this is just how it's ended up! Obviously not the best set of attibutes, esp when I want to do a bit of everything, which atm is fighting.
Should I start again (funded by my current char perhaps) and if so, what would be the best race etc to start with.
Cheers

Those are dire stats. Yeah start again. Lose all your Charisma.
Best race is up to you, check them all out. Starting attributes are important, skills less so cause you can always add to them. If you wanna go to 0.0 and be a fleetie, you need alot of Perception and stuff. But you know all this.

Yeh thought so... just created a new character, see what you think:
Race: Caldari Bloodline: Achura Attributes (tried to balance out as much as possible.. edited slightly by initial skills though): 10 Intel 12 Perception 3 Charisma 10 Willpower 10 Memory
What ya think?

Um, one of my disposable alts that is combat geared (vaguely) has 8/10/6/10/11, so yeah that's good. You can add 11 points to all of those within the first 40 or 50 days of playing as you train up learning skills and whack in a set of +2 or +3 implants.
Best of luck mate. If you need a hand learning the deeper aspects of the game join a corp, usually folks will be happy to help. And remember insurance! :P

I would not go with 3 Charisma either. I'm one balanced-attribute advocates. Minmatar Sebiestor has 6 charisma, you can get a base of 9 per, 6 cha, 8 on the rest. this os one of the better routes to go if you ask me. 6 charisma will give you enough room to train the charisma involved skills without taking too much time away from the other skills.

To be fair, even if he starts with 3 Charisma, Empathy V, Presence IV and a +3 implants (which are so cheap it's not even funny) will bring that up to 15. Charisma is used very little really, he'd progress through the game faster with more points in perception and willpower. Plus I think he's already made the char, theres only so many times he can start again before it stops being worth it :P

I'm with Mike here. with CCP adding more skills that need charisma, I'd recomend a nice even spread. This allows you to learn all area's equally as well.

They are? I've started training the learning skills on it. I'm not sure if it's worth restarting though, cause charisma isn't used much, and I could always get some implants/train some skills in it to increase it a bit, what ya think? Dont wanna have to keep restarting though hehe

My gallente alt has like 7 base Charisma. Sure it's wasted, but it makes me feel good, Cuz she's so sexy.

I have a Gallente Jin-Mei industrial alt with 11/7/7/8/12 starting attributes. Thought that was pretty good for an industrial character, but I suppose with some fettling at character creation, could make a pretty balanced combat dude. -----

I started with 3 charisma and have 15 now. You will barely use charisma and when you do you can get it to a decent number later. IMO achura is a fine choice to start with.

Gallente Gallente have 8 base charisma. Most of the other blood lines and races have 5 or 6 charisma.
The most important attributes for a combat oriented character, most important highest: Perception Intelligence Willpower Charisma Memory
The most important attributes for a (strict) industrial oriented character: Memory Intelligence Perception Charisma Willpower
To make a balanced character, follow the combat oriented character, but put less weight on the top attributes. To make a dedicated character in either field, put everything in the top two attributes and the odd point in the middle attribute. Ignore the bottom attributes.
Race. To make a combat dedicated character, chose Achura. They are the supreme and all-powerful powergaming choice for combat oriented character. To make an industrially oriented character, chose either Intaki or Vherokior. They are the ones that can start with highest memory, but be aware that your perception will be extremely low, verging on useless! My personal preference for a balanced character is the Jin-Mei.
Gallente. (All my characters are Gallente, and if I ever RP, it is Gallente) Gallente - Good leadership and mission runner choice. Will train leadership skills relatively fast, while not being left behind on the starship side. Intaki - Exclusively an industrialist choice. Do not make my mistake, do not chose this one as your starting character unless you are dead certain that production, mining, and refining is what you want to do. Jin-Mei - Very good balanced character when chosen with the ruling or spiritual caste. If the soldier's caste is chosen, Jin-Mei will excel as dedicated combat characters, second best choice only to Achura. - EVE is sick. |

freezinice, don't start playing again. Just go from where you are, if you want to train Charisma based skills it's just take a little bit longer, but not game-breakingly so. Best of luck out there.

This is a great combat character. To be honest, Charisma skills are really not that important, and many of those skills don't need training to 5. Combat skills however have a lot of 5 requirements to get to T2 guns, missles and ships. Stick with these stats and you will do fine.
