So earlier today me and a buddy are running around a certain system when he spots a Raven sitting outside a station. The raven locks my friend but does not fire. My friend locked back and did a quick ship scan...seems like the raven has really nice fittings (full group of Arby siege launchers + lots of t2 gear and named items).
Soon the raven leaves for some asteroid belt. I follow it in my drake and engage it. When the raven takes me down to 50% armor my buddy drops by for a friendly chitchat in his blackbird...after that its game over for the raven (my friend has really nice ECM skills).
All of a sudden I see 4 red flashy things in the overview...seems like some dreaded pirates were waiting to ambush the raven pilot and It also seems like I helped them by taking the guy down so low. My friend made it out but I got warp scrambled, so I did the best I could and finished the raven before going down in a blaze of glory.
Good fight, a bit lop sided though and now I can claim my first BS kill :) I may have had a bit of 'help' from the pirates but the fact is me and my friend had the guy locked down and helpless. Wouldve been a good ammount of nice loot from him too had we not been jumped....
Such is life...time to get a new drake :)
Oh and blackbird pilots rock!

The raven pilot seems to be a complete noob and yet he has a year old account and very nice fittings.
Ebay ? He mentiond he's gonna get another new raven just like that. The ship he lost was probably worth 400mil with the fittings atleast.

I was once going around lowsec in my nicely tanked thorax. I jump through a gate raven locks me at gate and shoots with cruise missiles which dont do much damage. His shield seems to be going down really fast so I just stuck a scram on him and got 6xarblest cruise launchers

whys the raven pilot the noob in this story i really dont understand? he has a raven, that is nicely fitted (not a noob fitting). he flies to a belt you follow. you need ecm to kill him. then you get killed yourself.
he had no chance v drake and blackbird with ecm. doesnt show hes a noob tho.
you got killed so did he. if anyones a noob here its you im afraid by calling him a noob, when it doesnt seem he is, and seemingly congratulating yourself for being killed.
would be an ok thread / nice little story if you hadnt called him a noob.

Generally people who buy experienced accounts off of ebay are noobs :) Hence I called him a noob because his manner really didnt fit that of an experienced pilot and player.

because he locked you? he may have been testing u guys to see if you were noobs?

I guess you never heard of MMX, who lost a faction fitted Navy Raven to a Dominix, the thread should be a few pages down the line in this section.

Ok i'm very confused about a few things on this post.
Firstly you say he's a noob because of his manner. what exactly do u mena by that? how was his manner noobish. many times i have locked someone at a station or gate and then warped to a belt hoping they would follow me. well used tactic.
also you say his raven was 400mil+? what because of arby launchers and t2/best named gear? would have to be faction fitted to get close to that mark even with invuln II's, internal force field array etc wouldn't reach that much.
Also you got jumped by a group of pirates while attacking 1 target which says to me that you weren't watching local and ur scanner while you were attacking him which to me says that the noob in this story isn't him.
also what kind of bb setup has a ship scanner on it for pvp? lol
Not too impressed with this post tbh i'm afraid.

First off a guy sitting 17km off me with an MWD would've just moved out of range of my slow drake and then warped off if he got into trouble. This guy sat on his ass and did nothing after getting jammed.
Secondly, Yes, My mistake was not watching local, something I usually do.
In anycase, me loosing my ship was really not big a loss since I go with normal unnamed t1 gear on my drake and that works out just fine. So the insurance pretty much covers much of the loss.
Flame away.

ok ur mistake here was calling him a noob and not saying why exactly u were saying that. after it was questioned u still didn't back up ur smacking of him.
if ur point was that he sat there with an mwd (strange of a raven to fit an mwd tbh) then that is a point that u should have made.
ppl including me generally don't like other ppl coming on the forums and calling ppl noobs after u've killed them. it is rather bad practice.

once i was going through 0.0 in my raven with T1 heavy missiles "don't ask why". I was attacked by another raven and i'm like OH ****!! so i opened fire on the guy. He was down to structure when my ship finally burst. Sure i didn't win, but i came pretty close. I'm sitting there laughing my ass off cause i nearly killed a torp raven using heavies.
BTW i bumped him to keep him from warping out.

but are you sure the pirates who warped in wasen't he's friends? did yo uactually see the raven got popped after you did?

Just because he made a bad judgement call in piloting a ship does not mean he is an ebaying noob.
He may play the market really smartly or have mined himself a fortune.

Just because he can get in a raven just like that doesn't make him an ebayer...
I've got 3 fully t2 fitted ravens sitting in my home system. And the insurance from those 3 losses would essentially buy me a 4th :).
And tbh, its only about 250 mil to buy, insure, and completely t2 fit a raven.
But the pilot may not have been a noob, just poor decision in warping to a belt. I've made my fair share of bad decisions :).

Why, I use a Raven to do missions, fitted for that purpose only. I don't PvP. I'm a noob then? Ok. Then I'm a noob. On a sidenote I'm a noob 'cause I've come back after nearly two years, started a lev4 miss and almost got pwned thrice in a row by the same miss. Fortunately I've had the feeling things could be different after such a long time and brought WCSs. Seems torps don't do (much of a) damage to smaller ships anymore, arghh. :D
