I like to get the best out of my play time, so when CCP introduced salvaging I knew that I had to get into the process. Plus, who doesn't want to build their own shiny new rigs?! The problem is that the process of salvaging has brought about aches in my hands/wrist.
I used to be able to break every 30 mins and flex my wrist and hands and everything was cool, but with the largly increased actions brought about by salvaging I am starting to struggling to get a handle on my aching hand/wrist issue (and I know that I can't be alone!). Before someone brings about keyboards and whatnot, I have an nice keyboard made to release the stress on the hands and wrist and I follow about 20 tips to decrease the stress on one's hands durning game play.
How can this issue be resolved then? I suppose I could simply stop salvaging, but that means that I have to ignore new content in EvE simply because my old hands can't keep up. Personally that makes me a tad depressed. The fix I would love to see implemented is to have tractor beams auto loot wrecks when the wrecks are pulled within 1500km of your ship. This would decrease the need to: select the can, open the can, press ctr+a, and drag everything to the ship's hold. This would decrease how much stress my hands have to endure by a great deal!
Well, hopefully CCP can have pity on an old man.

I haven't really tried salvaging yet, but how is it different than any other Eve mechanic as far as hurting your wrists?

You are kidding, right? Steps for salvaging:
1) Right-click, target.
2) Right-click approach.
3) Wait until ship gets close enough.
4) Hit F1 key (I have my salvager in slot 1 on my mission running ship, my dedicated salvaging ship on F1-F4).
5) Wait.
6) Rinse, repeat.
I do it on my laptop while feeding my toddler and watching TV at the same time, we aren't talking serious work here. If salvaging is hurting your wrists you seriously need CT surgery. <-----------> MMORPG == Massively Moronic Online Raw Powergaming Grief fests....

Are you kidding? Can't salvage a wreck unless you loot it. Mayor pita.

Then don't salvage the ones with loot, they are easy enough to see which ones with the latest patch.
Seriously, if this is causing pain he shouldn't be on the computer and is going to cause nerve damage beyond what surgery can heal. The answer to his problem is surgery and shut down the computer until healed.

Or CCP could make the game a little less stressful on the wrist and hands with the looting/salvaging process. I am guessing you haven't aged a bit as when you get older the pains in your joints can't be completely avoided, and surgery is not always the best option. Also, if I had surgery for every part of my body that ached I would never leave the hospital.
I know I can't be the only person who would love to see a very repeative process toned down some to cause a bit less stress on the wrist/hands.

In my opinion, the salvager should also automatically empty the wreck to your cargohold if the wreck is within 1500m or closer. Would reduce a lot of the boring repeat process that makes salvaging more boring than mining for me.

No kidding, I tried to Salvage one last night. Took me 20 cycles before the pilot convoed me and told me to stop it.

As far as making the game itself different to accomodate this problem, I think it's spoken for or solutions are seen here. As far as helping your wrists out, you said you flex them and your hands and it's generally ok; I do a martial art that is heavy on the wrists, so we learn lots of wrist strengthening and flexibility exercises that are suitable for pretty much anyone to do. If you want some details I'd be happy to provide them, just message me ingame.

I lift weights myself and have a whole sheet of stretches and wrist/arm exercises that I do. The simple fact is it's age, and there is no sure fire cure for age besides either dodging those acts that are causing displeasure or asking for a change. I like looting and salvaging so I would love to continue to do these acts. Without a simple change to decrease the repeative nature of the task I may just have to give these acts up though.

Heh stop lifting weights. Guarenteed to damage your joints.
RSI is a *****, usually joint issues with games and other PC related activites are down to position and how you rest your arm. Also blood flow can have a lot to do with it, if you find you hands going cold after awhile take a break and flex your fingers. Best technique is pretty much repeatedly clenching your fist.

43, with Carpal Tunnel and Cubital Tunnel syndrones. Cubital tunnel surgery in both elbows 8 years ago, carpal tunnel held in check with excercise and braces.
And looting/salvaging doesn't bother me any, its a whole lot easier on my hands than keeping up with Corp members in the chat box. Killing the 50K NPCs prior to looting is worse. <-----------> MMORPG == Massively Moronic Online Raw Powergaming Grief fests....

I don't know how you sit when you play EVE, but you're doing something wrong Tribunal.
I have tendinitis from drumming for 12 or so years, and my wrists don't hurt from the repetition in EVE.
