No.
Simple question, simple answer.
For the more expanded answer: Battleship wrecks apparently need salvage 3. I am unsure of the exact details however.

Not sure about all of the below, but it's kind of like this:
L1 : regular NPC small/med wrecks L2 : regular NPC large wrecks L3 : player T2 medium wreck (L2 wouldn't work on a Cerberus, L3 did), officer NPCs (size unknown) L4 : player BS wrecks (not 100% sure of this either) L5 : everything else not covered yet (player capital ships ?)

Edited by: Contralto on 17/12/2006 11:35:06 Im salvaging all sizes of NPC with Salvage 1.
So far salvaged Domi's, Throns, Mach's and Apocs from Lvl 4 missions.
My salvage skill is still at lvl 1.

You can salvage anything with level 1, the chance of finding salvage and speed of getting something goes up with each level. You're only a martyr if someone cares about you.

At salvaging 2 I wasn't skilled enough to attempt to savlage a player t2 frig or an officer NPC BS - (Brynn Jerdola), so thie above wouldn't appear to be correct

I thought skill at Salvaging effected your chance at a successful salvage (5% increase per level) and not what you could salvage. ---------------------------------------------------

Ok I know that the Lvl let's you access the more difficult wrecks (I can confirm that for accessing wrecks of officers you need at least lvl3).
But can any of you tell me if:
- The speed of salvaging is increased by the lvl? - The succes rate is increased by the lvl? - The times there is nothing to salvage at all is reduced by lvl? - The amount of salvaged goods is increased with each lvl?
- If the salvage rig will have an impact on any of the above?
Thanks.

1. No...the speed is only affected by the number of salvaging modules you use on the same wreck. This allows you to complete more salvaging cycles at the same time on the way to satifying that 1-x number of tries before recieving a go/nogo result 2. Yes...by 5% per level trained 3. Yes...by the same calculation as 3. 4. No. The only way to increase # of goods salvaged is by killing bigger/badder ships, npc or player 5. The salvage rig affects only 2. and 3. by 10% each rig.

There are some cans in the the new random deadspace spawns that require at least salvaging 4. Be cautious opening these cans as sometimes they are trapped and will shoot you.

With salvage at 2 I have yet to find a wreck in-mission that I have not been able to salvage. My total salvage per mission has been similar to that reported by others in the same mission, so either they are salvaging with low salvage skills or salvage skill levels don't affect the number of items salvaged.
Since going to salvage level 3, the drop rates have not increased noticably either. My success rate at salvaging (number of cycles before a wreck gets salvaged, even if it has nothing) has increased though, so salvaging takes much less time on average.

All I know is you need L3 to salvage T2 ships.
Tried salvaging a hawk wreck and it said, my skill wasn't high enough to salvage it. I had level 2 in salvaging.
A corp mate of mine tried salvaging a command ship wreck when his salvaging was at level 2. He trained it to L3 ( only had 20 minutes to go from when he first tried to salvage ) and he successfully was able to salvage the command ship wreck.

Lvl 1 can salvage any normal npc (not commanders)
Beyond that I have no idea, was nice to see CCP did not include this information on the skills info...
