I don't tend to like moaning about eve on the forums but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do somthing about these crappy probes. There is no fun in sitting for 30 mins telling your probes to scan over and over and over again till they find somthing you know is going to be there!
And when it does find somthing it might decided to make the game really fun by getting you 1.4au from the cosmic sig and making you waste another 30 or maby 45 mins depending what mood they are in
Granted sometimes your probes are nice and work within the first 5 attempts but it doesn't seem to be very often.
I'm either doing somthing seriously wrong or I'm far from the only one that thinks this "chance" thing is rubbish?

Are you kidding? Chance based systems means that a noob with a covert alt has exactly the same chance of getting a result as an uber pre-kali prober. If he has more skillpoints he'll be even better, guaranteed!

Train up Astrometric Triangulation ? It increases the strength of the probes -> increases the chance of finding something with the probes.
Yes, it isn't "fun" but it's a mini-proffesion _______

Not sure how it's a mini-proffesion, costs a fortune in probes for not much reward. Unless you count throwing money away a profession (actually seems to work for most goverments so I stand corrected).
It's not like it's great for new players either, just means they get bored senseless too.
Ah well if people like it then fine... makes no sense to me Does my bum look big in this cape? |

It's just dull, with very little in the way of interactivity. I'm not even talking about time:reward ratios here, you just plop down a series of probes near warpable objects and wait for the scan to inish. It's one-click dice rolls.

Aye, it's boring and the reward/time isn't that good.
You have the ability to get rich though or just throw a lot of money out of the window. The roid belts are the best rewards though, we got 3 bistot roid belts in 0.0 (mined the 2 and got about 1.3-1.4b in ore) and found a Gneiss field with over 40 roids in lowsec some time ago. _______

It's less interesting than ice mining.
I got briefly excited earlier today when I found a Gravimetric signature on my first try with a multispec, then found its rough location with a probe at every planet on the first try ... then nothing. No results returned from any of the probes after that.

I don't know what everyone's complaining about. I've had brilliant success with exploration in low-sec.

salvaging is a mini profession. Exploration is a full time endeavour. If its not fun then erm wtf are you doing it ? you into S&M?

Doing something semi-afk that seems to give more things in lowsec empire than deep 0.0 ? _______

Frankly that's exactly what low-sec has needed for a long time if it's true (and I'm beginning to suspect it is).

Edited by: franny on 17/12/2006 10:03:06 this is how bad some of them are 2 of us probing the same system both of us with probes covering every planet
me covert ops 4, signal acq 3, str and deviation skills @ 2 other pilot covert ops 2(I think), signal acq 2, not sure on the other 2 skills(corp's newest covert ops pilot)
multispec probe showed a magnetometric 1st set of probes, TIMED OUT 2nd set we found it, 20min or so left before timeout someone tell me how many runs that is, for the 2 pilots, I lost count
was it something cool, and uber, nah it was a hidden ark belt with a station wreck looking thing(looked cool at least), some random rats spawned while there(blood raider and rogue drone ones)
now some of you are thinking 'cool, Ark' but if you live in 0.0 it's not exactly new
maybe with the skills at 4/5, it will be better, but I have my doubts
*edit cause I spell gud*
