An alliance mate in local said that on the system map there was a huge moon type thing shooting lasers and said we should all come look, naturally we didn't believe him but when we got there this is what we saw.

Hard to make out but the 'moon' seems to be a huge strip miner in space. It seems to be a bug where if someone is mining in the belt you are in then this appears on the system map. Hehe i thought it was pretty cool.

iirc this happens when you are probing. How to reproduce:
Park your ship in a belt, launch a probe, start the analysis, open system map, and any effects that are happening close to your ship will be shown. (NOS, Web, lasers, missiles etc)

I was the first to see this crazyness. This is what I first saw in a belt while looking at my system map. I did know what is was and called for everyone in local to come check it out. HAs anyone ever seen anythign like this before? Devs????

This happens anytime effects are running and are visible on your ship. I have several screenshots of huge nos effects coming off my ship while I've been ratting.

also happens if someone is running a strip miner and you open the system map.
