I've just started doing level IV missions and I had a couple questions about warp jamming.
What ships jam? Is it just frigates, or can it be any NPC ship?
How many warp stabilizers would I need to be safe for any mission?

It's mostly just certain frigs. In drone missions it's "strain" type ships, the names for regular missions elude me at the moment. You will only be scrambled by 1 at a time, with 1 WCS you should be able to get out under any condition.
With the nerf to WCS you'd probably be better off just deciding if you are going to be screwed 20-30 seconds before your death and ctrl-q.

NPC warp scrambling ships work as follows:
They have 2 stats; Chance to use scrambler (e.g. 10%) and scramble strength (e.g. 1)
Now if you had 5 of these ships within range you would be scrambled between 0 & 5 points
----
likly scramble strength for 5 of these interceptors in range *per cycle)
0=59% i.e. not scrambled
1=33%
2=7%
3=1%
4=0.05%
5=0.001%
----
As well as the interceptors, some BS warp scramble though only usally the named ones (from memory Zor used to have a something like 50% chance, 2 strength, 40km range scrambler!)
With the present penaties to haveing WCS fitted, I would be much more incliend to explode the scrambling ships rather than using them.
Depending on orbit rage of interceptors T2 or faction (7250m range, 50M isk) may be of help.
Failing that use tghe traditional light/medium drone wave, or if you are really having problems. Warp in fire with a bunch or assult launcher fitted (if in raven) to clear out the initial interceptors.

nope, was scrambled this morning by two strain infester drones in drone harrasment second stage |
