Edited by: Polux on 24/11/2003 12:09:30 Well time for the second BS for me. I have a Tempest and I worship the damn thing but since it is realy expencive and I realy don't feel like losing it I was thinking about getting a level 1 BS to toy whit more. I can fly them all and can use all large turrets and all missles. I realy like this ship to be pvp and NPC alike I was thinking of the Typoon(Basicly because I think it is the best looking ship in the game and I hear that can pack quied a punch, plus I have good projectile skills) but I hear some people say it is a load of crap and this is the most usless BS in the game. Can somone answer theys questions for me.
1) Does it have some fitting problems?
2) Whit Electronic and Engeneer skill at level 4 will I have problems thit CPU or PowerGrid?
3) Are you allways shooting your drones whit the missles?
4) If you where getting a level 1 BS what would you go for?
5) And finaly can somone offer me a good deal on level 1 BS?

Sorry, then. I was in a hurry so I answered question 4. The answer to 3 is that you'll probably kill your own drones most of the time, unless you use missiles not worth using. Think of a setup with mixed 1200(?)/1400/launchers, med slot modules, check their requirements and see if you'll get fitting problems or not. I usually do that for a day or two before I buy a battleship (only happened 2 times, but still). When I got to the ship, I knew exactly how many shield HPs I'd get, I had all modules and stuff in my frigate cargo hold that I used to pick up the ship. When I undocked I had everything I wanted equipped already.

Edited by: Slick on 24/11/2003 15:15:10 I've piloted a Typhoon for some time now and I love the thing. Its a true work horse, it has done everything I've asked of it and more.
I Can fit 4 1400's and 4 heavy launchers with all the mid/low mods I like with no problems.
I've had one pvp encounter in it, I came up against a dominix and had no trouble sorting it out.
The great thing about the Typhoon is that no one is real sure what you're going to throw at them. :)
I'm doing it the other way around to you, I love my Typhoon so much I'm saving for a Tempest to do pvp in

My Tempest is great and it has to some PvP whit great resaults. Do everything whit it exept mining (coz I don't mine)it's a real scorpions nightmare coz you can resist there jamms whit all the med slots

I'm flying a typhoon right now - real versatile ship! I'm in a 4 1400, 4 h-50 launcher configuration in the high slots. I have several eccm toys on there, as well as a counter-balanced mod a tracking mod, a mwd and a m c5-l shield booster. With a power diag and a reactor control I have plenty of cpu left and plenty of powergrid left, not to mention the cap - projectiles use so little cap w00h00!
The best part though is the drone bay - 3500 drone bay == 14 heavies lol. Of course I can't fly that many, so I float around with some heavies, some mediums and a group of harvesters just in case I feel like mining.
This ship is exceptionally flexible - ugly as sin (think "Flying Trash Can" but can do the job with appropriate skills =============== Killboard: http://www.celeskills.com

You are wrong and they are wrong... Is not the best looking ship, is a trash can and when you deploy your drones it looks like a trash can with flys... and they are wrong cause is a mean trash can...
It has the same (or better) slots than BS lvl2. If you check the Apoc. the Mega and Typhoon have 8 H slots, 4 M Slots and 7 L slots, and the Typhoon has bigger drone capacity... So the damage you can do is equal with some top Class BS... The drones and Missile Problem is not really a problem... you use the drones when your pvp is under 20K and you can use heavy missiles to help your 1400 turrets.... or you use them only in emergencies as last resource... Any way if you already have a Tempest and you have the skills go for the Typhoon you will love it.

I honestly think the tube look of the Typhoon is pretty unique.
I never heard anyone say the Typhoon is a load of crap or a useless BS. Rather the Typhoon is a good ship, but other than having greater drones and CPU, a Typhoon is much like a baby budget Tempest, which does not really have much distinguishing properties over its bigger brother, not like the Scorpion-Raven relationship.
If you're a Tempest owner, you would feel at home with a Typhoon. You might feel downgraded however, like driving a 5 series BMW suddenly driving a 3 series.
The Typhoon has stronger CPU than the Tempest so you should not be concerned with the Electronics. However, it has a noticeably weaker power grid than the Tempest (whose power grid is only equal to a level 1 Armaggedon.)
On the drones, you should be concerned about missile splash with smaller drones, but heavy drones tend to shoot some distance away. I don't think it's really much of a concern as cruisers and torps are better used for long range, and you won't be using heavy drones until you are within 20km. It's not difficult to create strategies where you can fit both drones and missiles. I myself have done this for a while driving a cruiser with both drones and missiles.
The best money deal on a level 1 battleship is probably the Dominix. You can see this at an avg price of 50 million. Sometimes it gets below that. Most other level 1 battleships lie between 55 to 60 million.
